**SRY FOR THE WALL It wont register the line breaks…..***
I got a call from the bridal salon to let me know my dress and veil came in. And I do want to try it on but I don’t want to have to try any alterations now for a few reasons… I’m in the middle of p90X which will be followed by Insanity, so my size/shape will be change a lot and I’m worried if I get them to take it in now, and hten they have to again, it will be pointless and more expensive. + the wedding is in 6 months so a lot could change other than these planned weight loss.
But my father never got to see me in the dress in person. At the time of shopping he was visiting his dying father (who has passed now) so I think he does really want to see it, I’m actually really close with my dad and I hated him not being there but I couldn’t be selfish when my grandpa was dying so I pretended it was okay 🙂
Should I go and try it on now just to show my dad and then tell them a no on any alterations atm. Or should I just hold off until maybe late March?? The Salon is about 45 minutes away….
One alteration I do REALLY WANT them to do, is to make it a corset style back instead of the zipper. And they’ll be removing most of the crinoline in the skirt. This is my dress: http://allurebridals.com/products/8862
I have no idea how long those alterations would take… maybe I could just go in and have them start with those two and then later do the other take ins as required??? I already know a lot has to be taken in since the sizing they expected me to have like F or G sized boobs. I’m a C-D and still considered small by this dress which is crazy IMO.

Congrats! Frst off, your dress is beautful! I would definitely go in and try the dress on, they wont start alterations until about 1 mth prior to your wedding which will get you closer to the shape you will bewhen you walk down the aisle. Just go and try it on and get an idea at the alterations that you want them to do ie: the corset back.
I recently went in and tried mine on and I loved it! Fortunately the only alteration I require (besides the 3″ of material I already had them add for height at the time of purchase) is a built in bra.
Good Luck and enjoy the experience!

@Sminthy: Thanks! I didn’t realize they left alterations to that late!! I actually thought they started them much earlier so you could go back a few times, but then I don’t get clothing altered normally so I don’t even know the length of process on regular dresses haha.
And you were really lucky to be an off the rack size! If I’d picked the other dress I wanted thats what it would have been, but it was already a corset and think corset dresses don’t need much altering normally.

Wow that dress is stunning 🙂 Definitely try it on for your dad to see, and just start alterations a bit later on.

Gorgeous! I’d wait until the P90X is done then show your dad. It will create such anticipation! I’d want to try it on right away, but it would be so nice to try it on with your “final” figure.

I would go and try it on! Or, depending on how long it takes for you to get through your current fitness regime, go after that. It will also give you a chance to ask about the alterations, how much time they need etc so you’ll have peace of mind. It’s so cute your dad wants to see you in your dress!
