I’ve chosen a dress for my destination wedding in Vegas, but I’m not that sure about it (I’ll post pictures of it when I can). I’ve just ordered the dress below as a back up and I’m thinking of making some changes to it but know nothing about dress-making. I’m a curvy 18/20 (not quite hourglass but too busty to be a pear) and I think I’ve started to go crazy from reading advice on what will or won’t suit me so I need some help!
I’m pretty sure I’d need the neckline lowered at the front to make a scoop or v-neck since my bust looks horrible in high necklines. What I’m thinking about is having a band added to cover the waist seam and pull me in a little to give me some shape at the waist. My questions are would that be easy to do and would it look right on someone with ‘generous’ hips? The dress wasn’t very expensive so I’m within budget to get some work done on it, I hope!
Thank you Bees x

I think that is a great dress for a Vegas wedding and I definitely think that lowering the neckline is a good idea. I would have to see the sash because that might be too busy, and with the lowered neckline you might not need it. It could also be really pretty and be just the think to accentuate your waist.

The dress is perfect for the occasion and I think it would work for any body type (especially with a lower neckline) but I think a sash would take away from the details in the back which I adore.

Yes, the back detail was what sold me on it. If I did go for a sash or ribbon waist I’d want it to go under the cowl so that wouldn’t need to be changed. Good point about the neckline change too Belle, it might be enough on it’s own.

The dress arrived yesterday and it looks horrible on me. It clings to all the places I wanted it to skim. I’m disappointed but it did make me remember why I liked my first choice dress. So I’m back to Plan A for now…
