This is the previous topic: http://boards.weddingbee.com/topic/dress-is-missing?view=all&message=closed#axzz2WTChoq7J
Now the situation changed a little bit. The missing dress has arrived, but it’s several sizes too big (we ordered a 14 though the salon wanted to order a 16, the dress is labeled 14, but it is probably an 18-20, we guess that with Forever Yours UK going out of business, they just labeled it wrong on purpose). The alterations will be really expensive, and I already went slightly over budget for the Forever Yours dress. The salon does not want to pay for alterations, but I might have a chance to get out of my contract with them and get my money back. I love the dress, but I’m starting to have mixed feelings about the whole thing.
I have a second choice though: when I first tried on dresses, I first fell in love with the Alfred Angelo Cinderella 205. I loved the FY more though. I called up the salon that had it on stock, back then I fit into the size 14 gown. They have it on stock in a 10, but they said they could make it happen by adding lacing in the back and widening the breast part (they said there is enough fabric underneath the seams). So I found a used one in a size 12 (if things are possible with a 10, why not with a 12) and I’m seriously considering exchanging the FY dress.
What do you guys think? I’m really overwhelmed with the situation 🙁 and I have to decide by the end of the week 🙁

I quite like the Forever Yours dress, and I think it looked lovely on you even in the far too large size without the dropped waistline. Things are generally easier to make smaller than larger but an experienced seamstress will be able to do either. The Cinderella is also very pretty and if you aren’t happy with the FY then go for the Cinderella. But my personal choice would be the FY.

@moiraine: dress twin! i found a seamstress that does alterations out of her home so my alterations were dirt cheap. if i wouldn’t have found her i was looking at (300-500+). I had it taken in, hemmed, and added a bustle. for reference.

I can’t really vote without seeing them on you. Also I am biased to the Cinderella since it was my dress.

If you had pictures of both dresses on you, it’d be easier but I LOVE the fY dress on you so that’s what I voted 🙂

I tried the Cinderella on in a size 8, and with lacing it would fit.
I devided to deal with it this way: either the original store will pay for alterations, or I want my money back (I talked to the lady in the Cinderella dress salon, she confirmed that it’s their responsibility). If they do it, I’ll go with the FY. Otherwise, it’s Cinderella with a colored sash for me!
Thank you all so much for your encouragement!

Ok, update: there will be a lawsuit probably with the salon, as they are not negotiating. I’m getting the Cinderella, because the other dress makes me feel like crap – my parents are the most supportive people in the world and will help me make it happen. As for the FY dress – I will sell it. I hope it will at least make up for the cost of the Cinderella (which is a used dress).
