So i purchsed a sample gown for my wedding and I want to have it cleaned before the ceremony. I purchased it in January and just picked it up from my sister’s apartment this week. My wedding isn’t for another six months and i was wondering if i should take it to be cleaned now before i get it altered or after alterations. My only concern is that some of the dirt on the dress would maybe worsen between now and when i would get it altered. Did anyone who purchased a sample dress have a similar decision to make?

I purchased a sample too. I was told to have it cleaned prior to alterations, but mine just had make up on the inside of the dress. I hope this helps you a little bit!

I don’t have a sample dress, but I would suggest cleaning it ASAP if there is currently dirt on it. I bought a wedding dress and got some dirt on it while trying it on (D’OH!). In my research I found that getting the dress cleaned as soon as possible makes a big difference in whether the stains/marks come out. SOOO… although it’s tempting to wait until after alterations, I would say do it now. It might not even get dirty during alterations! Good luck & congrats

I agree, do it ASAP! You dont want to risk it.
