I posted this on the dress thread but got no responses, so will try here again.
I was hoping to sell my dresses after the wedding, but my reception dress is very dirty on the inside of the hem, almost black in spots 🙁 The dress is alencon lace. Does anyone have experience getting a lace dress cleaned? Do the hem stains come out? Any local recommendations, and pricing info would be great. I don’t want to spend too much money on a dress I don’t know how much I’ll be able to sell for.

Hi meliss! I don’t have any experience with having alencon lace cleaned, but I can recommend a cleaners. It’s French Hand Laundry and Dry Cleaning in Pasadena. I took my dress there for pressing and they were so great! They are very professional and deal with all sorts of fine/antique fabrics. They do TONS of wedding gowns (I saw several hanging in the shop). I’m sure they will have answers for you… just call! 🙂

Hi ladies, I’m going to revive this thread since I finally have the cash to get my dress cleaned. So far I got the great recommendations below, however I’m having a hard time swallowing the $300 price tag. Has anyone had any success getting a dress cleaned for less than this with good results? Please feel free to pm me.

So, since I got comparable quotes from each of these ($200 to $300), and Pasadena and Manhattan Beach are pretty out of the way for me, I’ve decided to take the dress to Peter’s Magnolia Cleaners in West Hollywood. Anybody tried them before? Or any other suggestions before I take it in this weekend??
