My venue provides white table linens free of charge. Because budget is an issue, I’d like to take them up on this. (They also have gold or black tablecloths I could use, but they don’t have enough of the matching napkins, and those don’t go with the colors of the flowers (coral) or the bridesmaid dresses (taupe).)
The problem is that my dress is diamond white, and I keep hearing that I shouldn’t stand next to anything that’s a true white during the day, because my dress will look dirty. Do I need to be worried about the table linens at the reception? Is this for real?

My colors are similar, so I’m thinking what I would do in the situation…hmm I think I would opt for the gold table cloths and then use white napkins. Maybe you could dress the napkins up with a gold napkin ring, or maybe even something coral…

This really isn’t as big of a problem as people make it seem. My dress was ivory and the linens were white and we were fine.

I’ve had people say this to me, too. I don’t think it’s a problem, though, because no one is going to notice the linens when you’re standing there looking smashing in your wedding dress!

It’s really not that big of a deal. Between the place settings, centerpieces, candles, guests and the glow of a bride – this will never be an issue.
If you were planning on taking a lot of pictures of you standing in front of an empty table then maybe 🙂
Don’t give it another thought and enjoy your wedding!

I’ve always wondered why this was an issue. I want to know who is telling people our dresses will look dirty. A cake baker that I considered said my cake had to be the whiteness of my dress… I told her that I really didn’t care, plus I can’t even remember the actual color of my dress. It’s white of some kind 🙂
I don’t think it’s possible for your dress to look dirty unless it is a brown color, even then it wouldn’t look dirty if that was the color it was meant to be. You may be able to tell the shades are different, but I doubt anyone will care. It’s almost impossible to match any shade of colors together anyhow. Hope this helps!

I don’t think it’s as much as making it look dirty as the fact that the pictures should be focused on you and you not blending in with the tables. I since you have the option to go with Gold, then I would use it on a few tables like the cake table and a few of the others. If ur that worried about the colors find something to use like candles that could give the colors you are looking for.

Seriously, I wouldn’t worry about it. The linens will hardly be competition for you!! No one is going to notice. 🙂
