as long as it comes in march you will be fine. Since they’ve been unreliable about the timing though I’d definitely start thinking of what your plan B will be if it doesn’t come in march.

@chocolatecoveredstrawberry:  I’m wondering if they’ve even actually ordered the dress. Delaying the delivery of a dress for MONTHS sounds very fishy to me. You’d still have enough time, if you don’t need many alterations, but I don’t think that these bridal stores realize that you have more to do than just sit at home and schedule alterations. Some people have homes to manage, jobs to go to, other wedding details to plan, etc.

If it were ME, I’d be asking some very hard and fast questions as to WHY the delivery of the dress has been delayed 6 months and then ask for proof of the fact that they’ve already ordered it and WHEN they ordered it. I bet you’ll find that dress hadn’t been ordered anywhere near the time you paid for it.

@chocolatecoveredstrawberry:  I’m generally very calm, cool and collected when it comes to all things wedding, but I ordered my dress early for the exact same reason you did. I just didn’t want to be in this position. I didn’t want to deal with what would happen if maybe they ordered the wrong dress accidentally or in the wrong color or it got lost in shipping or whatever… so I ordered early so I could have a seemingly easy wedding process. In fact, I’ve done everything early knowing that I would have enough time to deal with issues without having to panic. I get it.

The truth is that a lot of these smaller bridal stores (and I don’t know if you used one) will use your money to finance other dresses and so forth. They knew you had time, so they waited. It is apparently a very common practice, I read all about it. I’m just sorry it’s happening to you.

Yeah, lean on them. I don’t know if they’ll give you the number to the manufacturer but I’d even get in touch with them to see if they even have an order.

@chocolatecoveredstrawberry:  what is your dress?  I’m wondering if you could start looking now for a sample or preowned one just in case…

Mine arrived June 11 for my July 9 wedding and it was fine.  However, my bridal shop was relatively local.

@chocolatecoveredstrawberry:  Yep, especially if the salon has in-house alterations that you’re planning to use, I was pretty forceful about them putting a rush on that at THEIR cost.  They ended up doing them while i waited.  Just a hem and a bustle luckily, but I came, tried on the dress, they altered it while I had lunch and then I picked it up and took it home fitting perfectly.
