I have an issue and I need some thoughts. My hunny and I are getting married in May of 2014. We have kind of a busy year between building a new house together and me graduating from nursing school. We are giving ourselves a year to build the house because we are doing a lot of the work ourselves (he is a structural engineer) and will be having the wedding reception at the house as a big backyard barbque. The wedding will take place at our church in the late morning so we can have fun with yard games and stuff all afternoon.
So I went looking for a dress for the afternoon portion of the wedding and found this…
I got it. Tried it on and absolutely love it!! Everyone who has seen it loves it too. It has pretty little detail and looks lovely on me. But here is the dilemma. I showed my future Mother-In-Law and she loves it and asked if I love it enough to wear it for the whole thing. It got me thinking… I don’t have much of a budget… we are building a house after all. I am not a big fancy dress person and I really have a hard time justifying 300 plus dollars for a dress I will only wear for part of the day, once.
Could I wear this for the whole thing? What about a veil… do you think that would work? I go back and forth I think mostly because of pre-existing wedding expectations in my head. But I love this dress and my future Mother-In-Law said I had that sparkle in my face when I showed her the dress.

@Robbysgirl14: Don’t let Future Mother-In-Law get on your head! I would keep the same dress for the whole thing.

@somethingaquamarine: Actually Future Mother-In-Law is the one that really likes the idea to keep the dress the whole thing. If there is one person who doesn’t like that idea, it is my sister/MOH. She is the one who thinks I should go out and look at all these other expensive options that I am having a hard time wrapping my mind around.

Etsy is a good option for affordable veils as is eBay. Just check out the feedback!
And I would definitely wear your dress all day!

Thank you ladies!
So is it okay not to look at other options if I love this dress?
I love the simple veils. I was actually hoping to try to make my own, a fingertip length I think with some simple little sparkles like the dress has. My only worry with the dress being simple, yet very beautiful that a veil won’t look right.

It is YOUR wedding, and if you and your Fiance are comfortable with your choice, it’s nobody elses business. I understand that your sister/MOH may have some issues, but are they really issues for you, or are they things that she wished she’d done/or wants to do? And as for the veil: IMO, a veil with a little sparkle is perfect!
