Hello Hive. I am a long time lurker – and would really appreciate some advise. I need to order my dress and have an appointment to be fitted next Thursday. Here’s the problem: I am debating between 2 dresses – both Maggie Sottero. The first (vienna) is the dress that made me cry, thinking that it was it. This was two months ago and I still love this dress. Finally, yesterday, I decided to try the dress on again before ordering, just to be sure. BIG MISTAKE!!! The sales lady looked at me and started pulling gowns that would be more flattering. This is when my Mom fell in love with Harriet. The dress is so much more flattering on me, but I feel it is too flashy. It hits my curves in all the right places and hides the areas that I want hidden. Do I choose the gown that made me cry or do I choose the dress that isn’t quite as “me”, but I look absolutely stunning in. AHHHHH!! What you girls do?

Pick the dress that makes you happy! Even if you think you look better in the other one, no one at the wedding will have seen it so it’s not like anyone will be comparing!

Awww this is a tough call!! I would pick the gown that looked best on me because I woudln’t want to be second guessing myself if I picked the one that made me emotional but didn’t look as great. I am all about looking the best that I have ever looked on my wedding day so I would be super happy to find a gown that was really flattering (as long as I really liked it too)!! 🙂

I agree. I think you should pick the one that makes you feel beautiful. And I’m sure you look fabulous in that dress, as well.

Do you have photos of you in either?
I had a backup dress that technically flattered my curves better, but it just wasn’t “the one”! MY dress made me feel beautiful, and comfortable, and sexy, even if it didn’t fit me quite as perfectly as my backup one.

I wish I had photo’s to share – but they are all on my Mom’s camera. I kept forgetting mine and she couldn’t figure out the camera on my cell phone.

I chose the dress that looks more flattering on. I googled the pics of both dresses, and they seem very similar in styles – it’s not like one is a ballgown and the other is a mermaid or something, so it seems like they are both your style. Do you think you might be super attached to the first one because you have been drooling over it for 2 months, and have it in your head that it is “your dress”? I would go back in a few weeks with a clearer head and try both on before deciding. Either way, they are both gorgeous dresses so you’ll look awesome!

imagine that today your purchased the first one (call your best friend and give her your ‘pretend’ order!), whats your gut feeling? tomorrow, imagine you ordered the second one, whats your feeling at that VERY instant?? sounds silly but try it!

Went through the same dilemma. The emotional dress is gorgeous!!!! its all about how you feel in it. Confidence makes a potato sack look good. If you feel confident in the emotional dress then go for it!
