I didn’t have a budget yet when I got my dress, but it was $1200  (including alterations) which I thought was a great price for what I was getting. My wedding budget ended up being around  $40k, so the dress was about 3%.

Our budget is around $100,000, and my dress alone is $7500, pre alterations and veil, headpiece, etc.

We are paying for everything (same reason as you).

My dress was seperate and I paid for it myself. We did not include the dress in the budget for the wedding.

Our wedding budget is small: about $4,000.

About 25,000 budget – my dress was only $750. The budget for my dress was $1,000. I might have to have some minor alternations so it might go a little closer to the budget.

My veil was $30 and my shoes were around $35.

I spent $100 for my dress plus $40 for alterations. I originally was looking for a dress under $60. Darling Husband and I considered a $400 dress that needed $250 in alterations. Darling Husband was ready to take out credit to pay for the dress, but I thought that was ridiculous. I only wore it once and $140 was already a lot for a dress that would be worn once. We did splurge a bit more when it came to our honeymoon. It’s just a matter of what is important to you.

Our wedding will be around 15k. My dress is $500 off the shelf. I’ll have to try it on again but I may not need any alterations (crossing fingers)

youmaysayimadreamer :  I just decided by seeing what I could live with.  The dress wasn’t super important to me, so there was no way I wanted to pay more than $1000.  I just couldn’t stomache any more, regardless of budget.  I was hoping to pay bascially as little as I could but still have a dress that looked great.

I was lucky to find that in my city there was no shortage of options in the sub $1000 range.  I ended up choosing a great dress for $500.  The alterations were an additional $300 (man alterations add up fast!) and I was satisfied with the overall price.

In terms of wedding costs, the dress was not very signifigant in comparison to our overall budget.  The wedding costs roughtly $20k in total.  The vast majority of the budget (about 75%) went to catering and photography.

My dress was 4.8% of my overall cost, but I don’t think that would have been a good way to determine how much to budget for it. I would have worn the same dress regardless of how much my overall budget was.

Wedding budget: 20k

Dress: 650 on sale, but with taxes & shipping more like 740. Still needs alterations, so overall expecting to spend closer to 1000.

I budgeted $1500 for my dress but told my consultant that I’d like to stay between $800 and $1,000.  I purchased my dress, belt, and headpiece for $1,000.  Still need a veil and undergarments, but I budgeted for those separately.

Our budget for everything is $50K. That includes everything for us, engagement ring, wedding costs, honeymoon costs everything. We have the cash to work with him from his savings, he said this is what I want to spend total on the wedding and rings. Let me know how you want to do it and break down the costs. My dress is $1500, my dress is also being made into a new outfit after the wedding, because I found the thought of buying a dress to wear once really wasteful. Base it on what you feel comfortable spending. With a $50k budget I could certainly have a fancier wedding dress, but I have different priorities. To me it was more important to spend makign sure my Maid/Matron of Honor can come to my destination wedding and cover her costs, than spend on a dress. I like knowing I’m supporting a local fashion designer and her business, I also like that it is unique, exactly what I want and that it will be well made beautiful and I can wear it over and over after it’s remade.

A large portion of our budget is going to travel costs to Vegas, we’re also having our honeymoon there. We’re also dropping a lot of cash on my ring. I showed him the style I like with a range of options pricewise. Drew out what I’d like once he decided on custom so I could have exactly what I want. I know that ring is going to come out beautiful, and I can’t wait to wear it for the rest of my life. A piece of jewelry that felt like me was important to me.

Pick whatever works for you, have the wedding you want, spend on whats most important to you and I’m sure you’ll have an amazing day!
