I know there is a great post about what everyone’s dresses cost. However, I didn’t realized what a discrepancy there can be from shop to shop, even in my own town.
I believe I finally decided on the dress (for those of you who helped with votes on my previous post, I’m 95% sure I’m going with #3). So my mom and I decided to call around to all the shops in the area to see what their price was for the dress (our store said they would price match). The range was insane — over $400 difference from store to store (for an under $1,000 dress)!
Did any of you do similar price shopping? Did you find the same differences?

Its crazy how they do that! It all depends on the location of the shop etc.
Pretty much every thing you have to shop around i have found! When when shopping online i use diff computers to check prices because they keep track on how much you spend on stuff and the prices change!

Yeah definately. We were shopping b/w MD and PA and the MD shops had much higher price tags. I don’t know if this is true but one of the bridal shops told us that the designers actually sell them the dresses for less money depending on their location because people in the middle of nowhere usually aren’t as affluent as city people so if you’re looking for a better price to head for the middle of nowhere. Luckily, that’s where I live and it was a decent bit cheaper for an already not crazy expensive dress (well in terms of wedding dress cost)

yupppp! I found a dress i was MADLY in love with but it was 1400 not including taxes or anything and i just could not bring myself to make my mother pay that. So I moved on from my dream dress and went to the next store 🙁 Luckily for me… the next store we went to had the SAME exact dress for 1100! so we walked away with my wedding dress 300 dollars richer and im so glad i waited. Its RIDICULOUS how much storse mark up there dresses!

I definitely had this experience… same dress… I found it for $499 in DC (where I live) and $899 in California (where my parents live). HUH? $400 difference for a fairly cheap dress (for a wedding dress… sigh… everything is relative in “wedding” dollars…)??? Obviously, I went with the shop in DC.
