Bah! I’m in a friend’s wedding on 6/14 and I don’t have my bridesmaid dress yet! I ordered the dress in plenty of time, but the bridal salon keeps giving me issues. Two weeks ago, they told me it was set to arrive at the end of last week. I called on Friday (because I didn’t trust them), and they told me that it wasn’t there, but they would call me back (their favorite thing to tell me).
She actually did call me back on Friday (shocker!), but all she could tell me was that it hadn’t arrived in, and that the company website said that they are having “issues and delays”. I called back today because someone was supposed to call and give me more information, but that never happened either. I plan on going into the actual store tomorrow because I leave in ten days for this wedding and I have no dress!
Does anyone have advice as to how to handle this?
And, as a follow-up: should I tell the bride? I don’t want to cause her any unneccesary stress, so I’m thinking no, but what if they never get me my dress? Eek!

YES tell the bride. It might be time to start working out an emergency Plan B. Perhaps you can work together to all search local boutiques for a sample or different dress with a matching color .

My girls dresses were “delayed” but only by a few weeks and it was still enough time before the wedding (like by two months).
My advice…dont tell the bride until you go into the store and raise hell. If it were me, I would go in there and get the real answer and tell them that since you ordered well in advance, you want a concrete answer. In the mean time, I would start looking for a dress that could be similar? Idk if that would work, it depends on how your dresses are..if they are exactly the same etc…my girls could get away with it as long as it was the same material bc they are all wearing different styles. Good luck, I hope this works itself out!

Holy crap! Are any other bridesmaids having this issue? I would wait on telling the bride until you have more information. Go to the store tomorrow and see if there is anything they can do to expedite the process. Are there any in-store that can be altered to fit you? Can they find the dress in another store and have it transferred to them so to speak? Speaking of alterations, you may have to take it to an outside seamstress depending on the store’s prices and timing. Hell, I’d consider taking it to someone else just to avoid giving the store more business.

@lilcafe: That’s what I was thinking, but she’s so far away. I’ll see what happens at the store tomorrow and then I’ll probably tell her that there’s an issue.
@MissMudge: They’re all the exact same Alfred Angelo dress, unfortunately. Thanks for the tips! I’ll wait to tell her until after I go in tomorrow. Fingers crossed they have some solution for me.
@HisMoon: No, none of the others have had any issue, but we all live so far away from one another that I’m the only one who ordered from this boutique. They didn’t have any in the store–they just took my measurements, so I never even tried on the dress to begin with. They told me that they’d “bump me to the top of the alterations list if I needed it,” to which I responded “Of course you will!” I may take it elsewhere if there is time, though, for the exact reason you stated: I don’t want to give them any more business. I’m not sure if they have another store, because it’s a small bridal salon.
Based on their response tomorrow, maybe I can start calling around to other stores to see if they have any samples they’d be willing to sell me. Thanks for all of your recommendations!!
