I love my dress, especially after I added the crystal brooch in the last few pics!
…except I hate the way it looks bustled! I tried all different kinds and settled on a French bustle. The side view is ok, but the back just looks terrible to me. Because it’s a flowy crepe material, I think the bustle makes my dress look like it’s just lifelessly hanging in the back and looks like the bottom of a curtain.
Because it’s important that my dress looks nice from all angles during first dance, father dance, etc., and I wanted to have an option for the day of, I decided to buy a detachable horsehair tulle skirt for the reception only (I want to have the long train on my dress for the ceremony and cocktail hour). I absolutely love the back view (I love bows!), but I think the skirt may take away from the top of the dress in the front view. Not sure why, maybe making the belt thinner would help not to overwhelm me from the front.
So what do you bees think about the bustle, skirt, and dress in general?

Omg this is gorgeous! I vote wear the skirt!! Maybe take the skirt off for a few pics and the reception.

Stunning – wear the skirt! Much better then just the bustle. I definitely don’t think it takes away from the top

I am seriously DYING over the whole ensemble. The original dress, the added brooch, the bustle, the skirt. Seriously, you cannot go wrong with whatever you choose to do. I think that the skirt will be fabulous for dancing at the reception, it’ll have so much movement and make for stunning pictures.
You are gorgeous in that dress- with and without the skirt. It’s making me second guess my dress! haha

Wow I love the overskirt! You can try folding the waistline in half to see if you like it better but I’m not seeing an issue.
Who makes it? It’s gorgeous!

The skirt looks gorgeous!! All of it looks amazing.

I love the overskirt- much prefer it to the bustle. Try just folding the waistband in half to see if you like the look. If you do, a seamstress could tack it with just a few hand stitches.

Wear that gloroius overskirt! You look 110% perfecti n every picture. Love both your looks. That horsehair tulle overkirt will look fantastic on the dancee floor.
Yep, you’ve nailed it.

I think the skirt’s belt is too wide and cutting off too much of your torso. Other than that, you look lovely with the skirt (and with the normal dress/train, of course!)

Love the skirt for the reception, but I think you’re right to want a thinner belt on it. So as long as you do that I say go for it! I love both looks on you!

Thank you all so much! Your enthusiasm makes me feel more confident about the whole thing lol. I will definitely have to make the belt thinner, I agree with the posters about it cutting off my torso too much.
Thank you! The dress is by Pronovias, and the skirt was made-to-order from Etsy. The skirt arrived the day before my fitting, so I was super anxious to try it on. I’m so glad it fit well!

BalletParker : Forgot to mention that my inspiration was this Effie skirt by Wtoo. The bridal shops I called weren’t able to get the skirt in time, and I couldn’t find it preowned in my size. While this Etsy version doesn’t look exactly like Wtoo, it still turned out close enough to what I wanted and it was under $300 with expedited shipping!
