I have narrowed it down to three dresses. Two of which are $1600 which I would be ok with paying because I want the dress that I love the most. However, the third dress that I found is only $600. I love the 3rd dress as well there are just some alterations that I would want to make and I’m just not sure if they are possible or how costly they would be. The dress has a lace up back but I would want to change it to a zipper with buttons. Also there is a little bit of “bling” on the dress and I would want to remove that to add a belt instead. Are these alterations possible? or would it be more practical to just pay the extra $1000 for the dress that already has everything that I want?

It would depend on the dresses themselves. Do you have any pics? We would be able to give you better answers if we saw what they looked like.

You need to decide based on which dress is the one you love, not the price. It’d obvious that the $600 dress is not that because you have changes you want to make.
If it were me, I’d just buy the more expensive one and be done with it.

It sounds like you’re not convinced about the $600 dress. I’ve seen lots of brides fall in love with a low price and regret it later. I’d go for a dress you love now that needs fewer alterations.

Usually a lace up back is more of a V shape, so if you wanted to switch it to a zipper I think it would be a bit difficult. I would think you’d need a larger size and have it taken in everywhere else. I think by time you’re done with alterations you’ll be up there anyways so if one of the $1600 dresses is exactly what you want I’d do one of them.
