It will look amazing!  My dress is Maggie Sottero Ambrosia.  I purchased the “Alabaster” color which is an ivory also.  Now, I am very fair skinned (with red hair too) so white did not look good on me.  You have blonde hair so the same will be true for you, I think Ivory will be the perfect complement with your blonde hair.  It is still very classic and elegant, and everyone will look at you first then the dress.  Besides, your heart wanted what it wanted when you tried the dress on and nothing has changed!  Trust your gut and be a radiant bride girl!

Well….I had exactly the same dilemma last month, I found it online, went into the shop alone, tried it, loved it, ordered it then the next day convinced myself ivory was yellow so I called and stopped the order.  As the hours went by it just got darker in my head, so I went back that evening with my sister and it was so much lighter than I’d made it to be in my head, but I was glad I was able to go back & put my mind at rest.  You might be doing the same….

@JlovesM:  My dress is in Ivory and my mom had the whole “OMG you will look like a gypsy in this color”. ALL sales consultants told her she was insane. We went to another 4 stores to try on diamond white gowns and everyone concluded Diamond White tends to look cheaper..You are a light haired girl and ivory would look amazing on you. Trust me I had the whole ivory/diamond white freak out. Stick to Ivory.  (no, it does not look yellow, I PROMISE)

@JlovesM:  My dress is ivory and I LOVE IT.  I also tend to think that white looks too bright, and epecially if you have fair skin, it could wash you out.  Ivory is very soft and flattering for blondes and brunettes.

Also, it’s funny because when I look at my dress in the garment bag it does look kind of yellow in certain lights, but whenever I have it on it looks perfect, and in pictures it looks perfect.  In pictures it actually looks white, but a soft and pretty white rather than blinding white (which could’ve happened with getting diamond white).  πŸ™‚

@JlovesM:  On your skin color, great. You have the perfect skin tone for that. But I wouldn’t change, especially for a dress! You wear the dress, the dress doesn’t wear YOU. Just remember that. If you are so worried about the ivory, don’t be. The sales associates at the boutique I went to told me to them doesn’t matter what color it is but that as consultants they recommend ivory. She also told me this : No NATURAL material comes in diamond white. If material is diamond white, it is synthetic or has been artifically whitened. That is why in french here, they call ivory “naturelle”. Because it is the natural color of most materials. White really looks cheap, believe me. She even told me that a girl ordered her dress in diamond white and when it came in even her family was like..”Whats [email protected]?” They didn’t even recognize the dress. Looked cheap and they were very dissapointed. Hence also why most stores do not have samples in diamond white (at least small boutiques).

Please do not stress out about it..It is the perfect color, I promise you. The difference is minimal, just enough for it not to look too bright. If you want to color your hair brown because you simply want to, do it, I think it will look gorgeous on you. But if you are doing it for the dress, don’t. You make the dress beautiful, not vice versa, remember that!

I don’t think most ivory dresses are yellow. Here is an example of the Maggie Sottero Diamond White versus their version of Ivory (Alabaster). While not exact I don’t think the Alabaster/Ivory is yellow…just a little richer in hue.

I’m sure it will look gorgeous!

@JlovesM:  Trust me, I am in the same panic. I am all over the map. And my mom hating the dress, REALLY ruins it for me. Me and her always like the opposite things, that is why I didn’t even bring her dress shoping with me because I knew she would hate what I liked, and I was right. Problem is, my grandma (her mom) wanted to pay for the dress so now she is going all “your grandma will be so dissapointed, so much money for this dress, not worth it”. Me and my mom don’t get along too well but comments like this really make me thing..”What if she hates it, what if it dissapoints people, should I have picked something more WOW”.

I am in the same boat as you, I just want it to come in, so I can put it on and feel better.

@JlovesM:  I really like your hair! Not that I am stalking you or anything lol, I just looked at your engagement photos. I love the blonde on you, I personally do not think it looks too light on you AT all! Your tan really makes your blond hair stand out, its very pretty on you. If I went blonde, I would look terrible. Thats is why I stick to black. I really like the blond on you but you can always try and go brunette. Just don’t do it the day before the wedding. Do it maybe now, on a weekend. Go and get it professionaly done and then schedule a bridal appointment in the closest dress store, just for the hell of it. If you hate it, you can always go back to blonde..Especially if it is on a weekend, no one has to know. And you will have time to repair any damage to your hair if you hate it.
