now i was absolutely fine with my choice of wedding dress, i had known for a year which dress i was going to have, and once i had ordered it, i told myself NOT to look at any more dresses…..
until i did…..and promptly fell in love with another dress.
i have ordered a corsett top/skirt style wedding dress. my dress is not here yet.
this is the dress thats on its way to me….

and this is the dress i now have just fallen in love with.

my question is……do you think it would work if i just had a tulle skirt made, to wear with my orignal corsett top, that way i will be getting rid of my orignal skirt just when i would have bustled it for the evening reception…..plus, the bottom dress matches my bridesmaids completely…..here are there dresses

in fact if i had not already ordered my dress….the top one, then that dress would have been perfect for me. but its on its way and way too expensive not to wear it at all.
i just dont know what to do……i have someone that would make it for £80 for me, so its not a lot of money, but we dont really get to wear them that long do we, so i didnt really want to wear 2 dresses for ceremony/reception, but 1.5 would probably work ok……any thoughts?
another thing i thought of was, the evening before the wedding, we are having a get-together, would you think it was too wedding dress-y if i wore it for that……..i could have another colour…..

A tulle full skirt with the halter top would look great!!
How about finding a place that caries the tulle skirt and trying it on to see. Take some pics?

thanks …… you see i just want the shorter style, but cannot NOT wear my original dress if you know what i mean, and this way i get to utilise them both,. i will definately have a go to see if i can. i know the shorter dress has lace etc, but it isnt the lace i love, its the whole style….AND i wouldnt have strapless anyway…so it really is just the tulle skirt i want really isnt it?
my only problem will be getting a good match, unless i contact my dress maker and ask them to make me a tulle skirt if they can remember the exact colour they used for my dress?

If you love it I’d say see if you can get the tulle skirt made/bought. Wear the long dress for the ceremony and some pictures, then change the skirt for the reception. If you are going to be bustles all night anyway why not change into something short and fun for dancing.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE the first dress. It’s gorgeous, dramatic, and elegant. The second one is nice, but sooooo much different. If you are happy with the second, sell the first one. Someone should want to buy it if you haven’t had any alterations made.

I love the original dress. The second style would be perfect for the reception if you can afford it.

To be honest I love the first dress and the Bridesmaid or Best Man dresses also go well with it.

thank you , i can afford the second dress, but this is my 2nd marriage, and i remember the first wedding. i wore a white meringue type dress and changed for the reception and later on i regretted it. i didnt really want to completely change, but i think putting a shorter tulle skirt with the corsett top, i still have my wedding dress on that way……sort of.
