So I bought a dress in August when I was out shopping with my mum. She loved it, brought tears to her eyes and all that nonsense. It is extremely flattering on the waist and I think that may have swayed me but it’s just too big I’m only 5’2 and I’m worried it makes me look as wide as I am tall! This is my dress; Link to me in said dress here – http://twitpic.com/63buk1
This is the dress I want. I did the stupid thing of going into a shop and trying on something “for fun”. Something that is the opposite of what I wanted and would never wear. Except I loved it.
I spoke to the shop owner where I bought it and she told me there’s nothing she can do. The dress isn’t due into the shop ’till June but I can’t cancel it or move my deposit to another dress. The woman in the NEW shop told me that if it’s due in June there’s a chance she’s not ordered it yet so I should call the supplier. Unfortunately the supplier wouldn’t talk to me and only the shop and the shop called me this morning (I didn’t answer) so I guess they’ve told her and if she’s not ordered it, she will now! What d’you think I should do girls? 🙁

I like it on you! I dont think you look wide at all, a sweetheart neckline would make the dress looks diffrent if you want to spice it up!

Your waist looks teeny tiny. The only part that looks “wide” to me is the bust area. I think making the neckline a sweetheart would look better.

I meant to say, the sample was too small so it’s not actually fastened at the bust – I only remembered this today. Maybe that’ll make a difference?

You look great in the first one. You should call the shop and really tell them that you have changed your mind but if they refuse at leas you know you look really good in your dress.

You know, looking at the two dresses, I’m not sure it’s really that you feel like dress #1 is going to be too big on you (because it’s probably not). I think you’re just in a style disagreement with your mom – she probably is thinking more streamlined, a-line dress for you, whereas you’re craving the trumpet/mermaid look. Both are beautiful, but you should definitely go with what makes you feel better! Don’t suppose you have photos of you in both dresses?
My wedding dress looked very similar to dress #2, and my mother loved dresses like #1. I’m barely 5’1″, so I totally feel you!

I’ve not actually showed my mum the 2nd dress but I have spoken to her about my doubts.
Ive already spoken to the shop manager (who I never liked, to be honest!) and I can’t do anything in terms of cancelling/exchanging so I guess I’ll see how I feel when it comes in.

I think you look great in Dress #1! It’s just hard to tell because of the length – maybe you can try on the sample dress again and tuck the excess length under to get a sense of what it will look like on you?

The sample is just way to long and thats why it seems to be swamping you. You can order a shorter length which willhave better proportions to your body

you wont really know until your actual dress comes in. the sample looks funky bc it doesnt fit silly!

Thanks ladies, the point about it being too long really makes sense.
Before I posted this I definitely didn’t wanna wear it, not I’m not so sure!

I really like it on you. Your waist line is to die for!!

you look beautiful in the sample! I can only imagine how great you’re going to look once the alterations are made.
