Hi ladies,
So what do you do when your entire vision of how you see yourself looking on your wedding day suddenly changes? You see an image of a dress you would have never thought you would have loved, and suddenly it becomes your dream dress. You see yourself getting pictures taken in it, dancing in it, walking down the aisle in it. But you’ve never actually tried this style gown on!!!
This is what has happened to me. I am naturally an indecisive person. I never thought this would plague me for my wedding gown though. I researched gowns for months until I finally went shopping and put a deposit down in the third boutique I went to…then went back two days later and switched my deposit to my current gown…
As you can see from my previous posts. I have struggled with dress regret. Well as time goes by and I wait for my dress to come in next month, it is just getting worse and worse. I have looked at images of other brides in my gown countless times. I have looked at brides in similar gowns and all I can think about is how I want to change my dress. My dress is all I think about. I obsess over it. My fiance asks me what is wrong and I don’t want to tell him. I am embarrassed that I am letting this control me.
I’ve flipflopped between making my gown a sweatheart neckline, altering the back to be a deep V, adding sleeves, buying a different bolero, finding the perfect belt…then I started to realize. Why do I want to change this gown so much? Why I can’t be excited about it the way it is?
I’m seriously considering buying a preowned gown and forfeiting my $840.00 deposit…I have a bit of motivation for this as well because if I can find a dress that is close to my size and height I will save money!!
My dress current dress will set me back $1785.00…without alterations! I have been quoted $250 for the hem, $150 to take the gown in and about $100 to bustle! So my dress will set me back about $2,310 w/ tax!!!! My budget was $2000…
The dresses I am now obsessing over are two Maggie Sottero gowns. The Tabrett Lynette and Georgina… I love the detailing at the neckline…yes a crumb catcher! I think it would fit my enchanted christmas theme.
I have found a dress that a bride is selling in my town for $500. She is 3/4inch shorter than me, but she’s tiny!!!! She’s a size 2/4 and I am a size 6/8 (my hips run around as a size 10…). Should I risk it? Try it on? See if I love it as much as the pictures? I might still save money if I have to let the dress out a bit..My bust and waist are rather small though my hips ARE HUGE. I measure 33, 27, 40. The sellers measurements are 32, 26.5, 36.
What do you ladies think? Is it easy to forfeit a deposit?
Thanks
Here is the dresses I’m considering
