I don’t understand.. you ordered dresses your Bridesmaid or Best Man hadn’t actually tried on?

Also, I was told that when you order a dress it will naturally fit tighter than the one in the store b/c the ones in the stores are tried on over and over, which stretches the fibers of the fabric… you may just try getting her into to the dress a few times to “stretch it” some…

And if your friend is a street size 2 then yea her dress size should be AT LEAST a 4 but probably closer to a 6 unless her bust is on the larger size for her waist then that would be how they’re figuring an 8.

Stinks it doesn’t fit but hopefully you can find something that works =)

I’m sorry if this is insulting (because it’s pretty basic), but did you get them measured for the dresses? I mean, I’m no bigger than a street size 6 on the bottom and normally a 2 on top. I needed a 12 in my dress because of my hips.

Another friend, who is definately a 2 in street, needed a 12 as well, because she has a large chest.

If the dresses don’t fit, it sounds like you’ll have to go with something else, especially given the short timeline. (The girls also need time for alterations!) Maybe try J Crew, The Limited, Nordstrom, Bloomies, etc and look for a dress that would work for all of them.

Can you order another dress just for that girl by the same designer in the same color even from another store? Can they order a panel of fabric and add it?

I don’t think you can blame it on the store. You said they measured your girls and your girls tried on certain sizes and went with those sizes. So between both of those things… it seems that your girls did in fact gain weight, even if it doesn’t look like they did. I’m confused how it can be the store’s fault if you ordered certain sizes. Unless they store gave you a different size from what you ordered, it’s not their fault. I’m not trying to be harsh, it just seems like you want it to be their fault so you can get your money back. This is a horrible situation! I wouldn’t wish it on anyone, but I think you just have to look for other dresses.

I went with dresses I didn’t like for the BMs due to price and timing. They aren’t ugly or anything, just not what I imagined. I guess that’s what you have to do when you have situations like these. I’m sorry 🙁

@cllyons: Well let us know what happens. Are you sure her breasts didn’t grow? People wear the wrong bra size all the time without knowing. But I would blame the store if the dresses they sent you were mismarked… ugh, I would be so annoyed!

Ummm… not everyone wears larger wedding gown sizes.  I’m a street size 4/6 in clothes (though 4’s have been known to be too big…) and the gowns I tried on were 4’s.  I have a vintage size 8 that is, easily, two sizes two big.  It was a gift YEARS ago, so I can’t complain about it not fitting.

It sounds like it was mis-marked, which happens even in retail.  (been there, done that, returned the clothes the next day).  Hopefully something can be done to make it right, like reordering it with rush delivery.

so sorry you’ve gotta deal with this!!!
