I am SOOO frusterated with the dress search. The only place that has anything that fits me is Davids Bridal but they don’t have a style that works for me. The more I try on, the less I know of what I want. Im obioulsy plus sized and 41. I know that not all people agree that there are “age appropriate” dresses but for me there is such a thing and I really don’t want a strapless dress but Im open to wearing a bolero or shrug. I also want to avoid spending a fortune on a dress.
Im getting married in October on a Sunday morning in Savannah, GA. If you haven’t been there it is very historic and romatic! So I don’t want anything too heavy or shiny but the chiffon dresses I have tried end up looking like maternity dresses! Here is a photo of the wedding location. Does anyone have any ideas???

Hard to tell without seeing you in anything but think about what cuts and styles of tops, dresses and skirts you look best in and maybe look for a white dress like that in a non-bridal store, like formal wear you’d be comfortable wearing just in white?

Don`t limit yourself to traditional wedding dreses- in style or color.
Nordstrom has this dress in champagne that would make a very pretty wedding dress.
also look at Nataya
here`s just one example

did you try on only chiffon dresses? You might want to go back to DB and try on other styles

Also just wanted to add that if you can find a style that looks good than you can add what it does not have like straps cap sleeves whatever. Some bridesmaid dresses also come in white or ivory so check those. What a beautiful place for a wedding!

Oooh, that looks so gorgeous! I’ve never been, but Savannah seems so magical.
When you say DB dresses don’t work for you, do you mean they aren’t flattering or you just don’t like them? Or is it because everything’s strapless? Do you have any pics of things you’ve tried on you’d want to post?
I don’t know your style, but I think this would be lovely in that setting, and you can order it to your measurements:
I also think if you can find a simple, matte satin or taffeta dress, something like this shrug (also customizable to your measurements) would be just the thing to top it:
But try to enjoy yourself shopping! I know it’s frustrating (having my own dress crisis!), but when will we get to experience this particular frustration again?? =)
