Ladies….please tell me that one of you have had an issue with your dress not fitting.
Here’s the problem…….when I bought my dress…it was a sample it fit….well…it was a little snug so I knew it had to be taken out…..I purchased the gown about 9 months ago and when I took it to the seamstress I couldn’t get it zipped….YIKES! I knew I had gained some poundage in the behind but did not realize it was this bad! Now my seamtress is having to work miracles with my dress. I am a little bummed but still in LOVE with my dress.
Would you feel that maybe you should get another dress?
Has this happened to anyone else?
By The Way…..I work out regularly but was a slacker this summer.

I saw the same issue on ‘Say Yes To the Dress’ and the seamstress made it work! I’m sure your seamstress can get something worked out. I wouldn’t buy a dress just yet. Worst case scenario you’re in a time crunch and you have to buy one off the floor, which might end up being a different style, but unless you have dinero to toss around, I would just take the risk.

When is your wedding? Do you have time to lose the weight? Have you tried spanx?

Is it possible to have the seamstress put in a corset back?

I am currently going thru this issue RIGHT NOW.
I actually worked out tooooo much and made my back and chest larger than I originally had when I purchased the dress. The seamstress was very nice and is taking it out. I go for my final fitting today and I am sure everything will be fine.
Don’t worry, seamstresses can make miracles happen 🙂 🙂

Well it depends on how much time you have
maybe you can lose a little weight and/or have the seamstress let it out
again depends on how much time u working with

Yes! It’s by far the worst part of the wedding planning for me. Tried on the dress, got measured (had to sign by my measurements) & ordered the dress in early April from San Jose, I live in San Diego so I got it shipped to me. When I ordered the dress, I was 10 lbs down in weight from when I started working out in Feb. I was super happy. Continued working out, lost 5-8 more lbs (depending on the day), then I rolled my ankle running and fell off the wagon for a month. I maintained the 5 lb loss. My dress came in with only a month to the wedding (September), tried it on in my bedroom and it was WAYYY too small around the back AND it is a corset. There is a panel in the back that was 2-3 inches from snapping shut. I thought maybe it was just me so I took it to the tailor. Yep..at least two inches too small and the corset lace took up most of my back. Hello, Christmas ham. *Enter freak out mode*
So, my worst nightmare came true. I’m actually a half inch smaller up top since the original measurements so there is no way this was the right size. The bridal shop in San Jose said that I could send the dress back and they could see if the dress maker (Maggie Sottero) had a bigger size but my chances were slim. Mind you….a MONTH until the wedding.
I went to another seamstress for a second opinion, they told me I definitely couldn’t let the dress out & the only thing they could do was to make the modesty panel bigger so no skin showed in the back. So I basically took a day to cry my eyes out, took it to the tailor and asked them to make the panel in the back bigger and decided to crash diet (deathly afraid of working out more and gaining muscle..crash diet it is).
3 weeks later, I lost another 7lbs, they made the panel bigger and it fits. I lost another half inch off my chest so the corset isn’t AS bad. The only thing that needs to be fixed is the bustle because it looked pretty awful. Oh and like 5 stains (including a red lipstick stain…i don’t wear lipstick??) magically appeared on it so now I have to get it spot treated AND pressed.
The whole experience made me have a grudge against my dress. It doesn’t fit how it should, I have to pay about half the price of the dress to get it altered, cleaned & pressed and it’s still not finished being altered and I’m getting married on Oct 9th.
I’m sooooo excited for our wedding day but I can’t wait for this situation to be over with. 🙁
I hope your situation turns out well! If you low carb & low salt diet for a couple weeks, you should be fine. Mine was about two sizes off, I would need to lose another 6-10 lbs to have fit into it without alterations. If you just packed on a few, modified south beach diet with lower salt intake should do you fine. Hang in there!

How long until your wedding and how far off base are you?
