I agree with PPs-I’d try on a similar silhouette before ordering!

@absolutely_tati:  I was in the same boat! I fell in love with my dress and had never tried it on but, I did try on same styles, which made me feel better. Here’s my dress.

Hi I am in the boat as you. I want a dress With color. Have you seen David tuturas Hillary dress? Maybe you could find that one.

I agree with a previous poster who suggested trying on a similarly shaped dress to see how it looks with your body. At first I loved A-line dresses but they looked horrible on me! I am petite and I guess I didn’t take that into account. That being said, the dress you posted is b-e-a-utiful and I hope you can wear it on your big day 🙂 Do lots of research if you’re going to order a dress online and read all their reviews. I was going to order my bridesmaids dresses from an Etsy seller from China and their shop (along with many others) closed suddenly. Shady!!!

@absolutely_tati:  I deleted my old acct, but had to post when I saw this. I just *loved* this Alfred Angelo dress you posted. I adored it when I saw it online, and had the opportunity to try it on. I absolutely thought it could be the one. I walked out of the dressing room, saw my reflection, pivoted pretty quickly and went to tear it off.

I like to think that I have a pretty forgiving figure, and it looked just horrible on me for some reason? Not flattering at all. Not sure of your body type, but I am 5’8″… Very athletic and busty… I don’t know why, but I was so disappointed with the way it looked. : ( I went with a different Alfred Angelo in light gold, because I also did not want a traditional white dress. Hope it fits you better, but I def vote to try it on before taking the plunge!

I don’t want to show my face, but here’s the back of the one I purchased, so that you can see the shade. The color is soooo beautiful in person, and if you make it to an Alfred Angelo store— please try it on. : )

ETA: You can also see I went with a fit and flare… It was a generally flattering silhouette. Just not this one on me. If you do order it, just make sure there’s a return policy, as this will be a very hard dress for resale (would take a very particular buyer).

@absolutely_tati:  It’s not an unusual silhouette. Try on a similar dress and you will know how it will look on you.

@absolutely_tati:  I’m pretty curvy myself… It was almost stiff on me if I remember correctly. Didn’t hug me the way I was hoping. Which I was sooo bummed about, bc I LOVE the unique color. Here is the front so that you can see how your shape may compare. Forgive my odd stance, as I’m trying to unsuccessfully hold my dress in like six inches. I wish I had taken a pic in that dress, but that’s how much I disliked it. I don’t want to talk you out of it, I just remember how disappointed I was and would hate to have had ordered the dress and had that experience.

Can you go and try on something in a similar silhouette and make sure it suits you? Or you could just risk it have make sure you have a healthy alterations budget in case you want to change anything.

They can’t order it in a size? It has to be custom?

If that’s the case I would order it. If you don’t like it, sell it and order something else (if you have time)

@absolutely_tati:  Yes ma’am, mine is also an Alfred Angelo. I actually went there specifically to try on the exact one you posted. LOL. And thank you, the pictures don’t so this dress justice… It’s sparkles depending on the way the light hits it and has layers of different ivory/gold shades.

Anyway, I would say the drive is SO worth it, even in a smaller size. If it looks good small, it will only look better in your size! It also didn’t have a corset back. I don’t love corset backs myself, but HAVE to to have one to fit around my body properly (tiny hiney, big ta-tas).

It’s so tempting to buy something that you just KNOW will be the one, but you will be elated if you try-before-you-buy if you change your mind. Also, look at the thread for user Barbiestylez. This girl is curvy, too, and has had some custom replicas made off Etsy of couture gowns (for like $500 a piece!)… And OMG… They are some of the most amazing and unique dresses I have ever seen. I am convinced this Etsy woman can make anything, and will def be ordering a custom dress from her someday… I’ll find an excuse to have one made! Haha! It’s too late for me now, but if I could go back, I would have went this route. Absolutely 100% worth looking into. She may even be able to replicate this above gown, and tweak things to customize it and make it your own. Best of luck!!!! : )
