I have just committed the ultimate bridal sin… I already have a dress- but I tried on another one…
I bought a dress from David’s Bridal online during that crazy sale they had last month. The dress came and I do like it esp. for the price ($99). I like the color and the shape of the dress is flattering, but I don’t like the length and I’m worried that I can’t wear a purple sash with it. (I really want to wear a purple sash and shoes). Here is the dress:
The dress that I tried on (even though I know I had NO BUSINESS doing it) is also from David’s Bridal. I went in there to look for a bra for my original dress and I asked the sales woman if I could just take a look at it. We got to talking and she offered to help me try it on…
The dress is so cute on! She put on a purple sash and the shoes and I LOVE IT!!!! It took everything in me not to buy that dress then and there!!! It is the perfect length for my garden wedding. It doesn’t even need alterations. UGGGGG!!!!! I am so irritated with myself right now… I don’t know what to do…HELP!

i understand as i am a 2 dress bride. since one only cost you 99 then if you love the other that much more get it. I do like the first on you.

Why don’t you just chop the one you have down? If you hate it, you’re only out $99.

@Jeannine @ Small Chic: Agreed – just try chopping it?

I would go w/ the 2nd dress. Since you got such a deal on your first dress, it shouldn’t hurt your dress budget. I love tea length dresses so my reception dress was such while my ceremony dress was a full length sheath gown.
You can always sell or donate your 1st dress to another bride. Now once you make the decision on which dress, no more dress shopping for you.

Thanks for the advice Bees :)- I checked in with my mom and sis-in-law and they both support me 100% on going to try on and possibly get the second dress… So I am going to take my 1st dress to the store with us and try them on together… We are on a tight budget, so I really feel guilty doing this- but I really want to be in a dress that makes me feel pretty and dress #1 is nice but #2 is AWESOME … The sales lady was super nice and said that she will work with me to look at options with either one…

You only spent $99 on the first dress…so I say buy the 2nd one if you feel like its ‘the one’…you will only be out the $99 from the first dress

You can always sell your 1st dress. I say go with the 2nd one! :o)

- Wedding: October 2011 - ceremony in our family's Catholic church in Watsonville; reception at the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk
Or you could always use the 1st dress for a “Trash the Dress” photo session 🙂 I’m a 2-dress bride, too. Don’t be too hard on yourself…there are lots of us here that have been where you are, and out a whole lot more than $99!

go for the 2nd dress!!!!! it is sooooo cute!!! x

@teacup: I second the trash the dress idea!
Probably best to try a purple sash with the first dress before you decide to go with the second. But the second one is gorgeous! If it still fits in your budget go for it!

How much is dress #2? Like others have said 100 really isn’t that much in the whole scheme of things, and you can try to re-sell.
Depending on how much 2 is, it could prob be cheaper than altering 1 to how you want it to look, which btw I think a purple sash would work and you could make it shorter.

Dress 2 is super cute and if you only paid $99 for the first dress I say go for it 🙂
YOu seem to be totally INLOVE with Dress 2, thats the feeling you should have with a dress 🙂

Dress #2 is $500. I tried it on and it was PERFECT- so no alterations needed. I would buy a purple sash and wear purple shoes….
I talked with my Fiance about it and he said to get what I want…. Goodness I love that man…
What is a trash the dress session? Like when folks are walking in the water in there dresses?

@Keisha In Love: yeah do it, you’d prob spend like 300 for alterations on your other dress so just go for the one you love.
Yeah that’s a TTD thing, when you ruin your dress, google it and you’ll get some cool pics.
