This doesn’t sound like a shop I’d trust with my alterations either!  I’d take my gown elsewhere for alterations.  You never know what vengeful people are capable of and unfortunately this is not something that you can really afford to mess up (as we have specific timelines for everything!).  

I wouldn’t go down without a fight though 😉

I’d go back to the shop and give them one last chance to redeem themselves.  “You can do the right thing and alter the dress for me with the CORRECT measurements or you can have a very dissatisfied customer who’s going to leave here and write GREAT reviews about your shop…”

When they ordered the dress, did they show you the measurements they had taken and what size they were ordering?  When I ordered my dress, the woman told me that she was ordering the size she was, and why, and I asked if maybe we should order one size down (the difference was like half an inch) but she recommended I get the bigger size because it’s easier to take in than magically create more fabric.  Was your experience similar to mine?  If so, why did you allow them to order a much bigger size?

I would continue to dispute it. Is it a chain or privately owned bridal shop? If it is a chain I would recommend threatening to call their corporate office and if it is a privately owned shop I would tell them that you will not only contact the BBB to give them a horrible review.

I can’t believe you are having so much trouble. I just returned a dress to David’s Bridal for a full refund with no problems at all and I hear many people have trouble with DB.

Did you pay your deposit with your credit card? Your probably best disputing it through your credit card company.
