I think your original dress is lovely.  Does it have a corset back?  I think you might be surprised by how much your figure will be defined in it once it fits you properly.

That said, if you really hate it, I’d suggest hunting for another dress that won’t blow your budget.  You’re right- it’s just one day that you’ll wear it.  It’s important that you feel beautiful, but you won’t be able to enjoy it if you’re worrying about how to pay your electric bill.

i have to admit… i love the more expensive one too.  i know exchanging at the shop is part of the deal, but can you find it anywhere else at a better price?  maybe gently used?  maybe you could just sell your old one.  otherwise i just don’t know.  if its worth it to you to scrounge for the extra money then do it.  i really think you have to go with your gut.

If I remember correctly, the reason you were having mega alteration problems was because of your amazing weight loss.  I think you should feel amazing in your dress, but what I would do is a bunch of detective work to see if you can find it cheaper in your size.  Double the price is a lot, but if you are going to spend that much on alterations on your dress, you have to take that into account too.

Let us know what happens!

I think the other one may look better on you. The one you bought looks good, but i think the other one will be much more elegant

As lovely as dress number 2 is, I think dress number 1, when it is fitted, is going to be the more flattering choice because it will give you a nicely defined waist. Dress no. 2 will require either well proportioned bust-waist-hips or some shapewear.

SHUT UP!!! THAT BEAUTIFUL PRIVATE LABEL BY G IS MY DRESS!!!!!!!! 🙂 🙂 How much is the bridal shop charging yoU??? PM me if you’d rather talk about it there. I originally said to keep your ballgown, but I changed my vote – GO FOR THE 3339!!!!! There are A MILLION reasons why I love that dress….. the details, the flattering shape, the lace-up, the beautiful train, the shiny taffeta. I even found perfect Bridesmaid or Best Man dresses to go with it!!!!!! LOVE LOVE LOVE that dress, and whichever dress you go with, you will be the MOST beautiful bride!!!!

I’m really torn. I love the new dress you found, but I also agree with the posters above that your dress will be much more flattering when it’s fitted properly. Besides, once you’re all made up and glowing with the joy of getting married, you might be surprised at how absolutely gorgeous you look and feel!

It is just one day – of course you want the dress of your dreams, but make sure it doesn’t cause any stress! If you know you really want the more expensive one, then just go for it. But you look gorgeous in the dress you already have, too.  🙂

i like dress #2. for me, the way the fabric is gathered around the waist/tummy area and then gathered to the side is appealing for me

tough decisions – goodluck!

i just noticed the link to the economical option.  i like that one too.  in general, i’m not the hugest fan of strapless, but it can totally work and looks gorgeous on you.  since you mentioned having to alter 5 sizes i really think you should consider a new dress.  i’m sure it can be done, but its bound to be expensive and difficult.  even if you stick with your original dress, could you exchange it for one closer to your size?

Oooh, I saw your economical option link and I have to say– that’s actually my favorite of the three!  Totally gorgeous for a beach wedding! (And CONGRATS on that weight loss!)

Do you have pictures of yourself in all the dresses?  I think that would help a bit in determining which you look best in.
