The dress has been the biggest cause of stress in my wedding planning life. When I finally picked out my dream dress, I thought it was all over with. I was sooo wrong.
First of all the salon has been absolutely terrible. NYC brides if you want to avoid this salon, PM me and I”ll let you know who it is. They pushed back the date my muslin was to come in without telling me because ‘of my wedding date’. And now, 5 weeks before my wedding I’ve been having nightmares of having no dress and calling the salon every day to see where the HECK it is since there is NO excuse to wait this long for a dress I purchased in August!!
It FINALLY came in on Friday and guess what. It’s at least 1 full size two small, almost 2 sizes. They can barely zip it shut. And no, I haven’t gained any weight, I’ve actually lost weight since the Muslin fitting. The manager admitted they messed up my measurements.
The salon claims they can fix it, but I saw the worry in the tailor’s eyes. She barely spoke at all during the fitting and I am so stressed out. I am left with no time to buy a new one and a salon that will probably claim it fits me when it clearly won’t zip just so they don’t have to give me my $$ back.
Sorry, just wanted to vent!! 🙁

That really stinks, I have no idea what you can do at this point. Can you refuse the dress and go look elsewhere?

Oh no that sucks! I’m so sorry. I wish there was something I could say to make things less stressful 🙁
I just hope everything works out the way they’re supposed to.

OMG, I’m so sorry, that’s awful!!! Don’t give up hope yet tho, tailors can do amazing things even when it seems all hope is lost…When is your next fitting?? You should def ask for a discount or some type of monetary reimbursement for this disaster, again, so sorry!! Good luck, finger’s crossed for ya!

Eeek!! You mention a zipper, is there anyway you could have it altered to a corset? I would think that would give you a size or 2 give? How long will it take for whatever alterations they’re doing now to let it out? Hopefully that works!!!

Yikes! I’m so sorry – hopefully they can get their act together and fix this for you. I totally understand dress stress. I keep having nightmares that my seamstress hemmed my dress too short 🙁

I know how you feel! That is so awful, I am so sorry!
My dress had the wrong measurements too, and I fit… but it makes my boobs look like implants, it is so tight in the bust!

That is so terrible, and now i’m a little worried for when i pick my dress up this week…i hope it fits. I was watching say yes to the dress the other day and there was a girl on there who got her dress back and the salon had messed up her meaurements too. she had to get a new one.

OMG That is such bs! I really hope for you that they fix it! 🙁 Makes me so ticked off the way some salons treat their brides.

Have you heard of the coset slimmer that pulls you in 2 sizes instantly? No matter how skinny you are. My mom has one from this lady at her church who sells them gave it to her and she doesnt wear it. So I tried it and it slimmed me down in the waiste and hip area about 2 sizes. If all else fails I suggest you try that, it actually works. I wish you the best. I am sorry you are stressed. oh the compnay who sells the slimmer is called Ardys. You can Google them to see if there is a person in your area who sells them.

Oh no I’m so sorry! I feel your pain, my dress is also too small. And I’m a size 0-2. ?!?! It’s so stressful, I know just how feel. My best advice (or what I am doing) is going to a couple of seamstresses for a consult. See what they can do or what they say. If you don’t trust the bridal shop you went to don’t risk it. Hang in there, hopefully they can take some out for you or figure out something. Keep us posted!

Thank you all for your kind words of support!! 🙂
I doubt I can refuse the dress – I know for sure this salon will claim that it fits me no matter what so they don’t have to give me my money back. They’ve never apologized to me about pushing back the arrival dates of my muslin and actual dress or even TOLD me about it in the 1st place!!
The corset idea is a good one, but it won’t help the hip area which is the largest part of me and where it is bunching right now. It’s like a skirt that is too tight in the hips when it bunches all up around your waist – that is what is happening. And it’s too tight in the chest, cutting off circulation.
AS far as the slimming underthings, I’ve tried those before and they don’t work on me. First of all, I’m too physically small to fit into anythign that isn’t custom made so the slimmers never fit me right or bunch up in the wrong places. Second, I really am very tiny, I can’t imagine losing any more weight or seeing a huge difference from slimming underwear. It is a good thought though!
I’m just hoping they are right and it can be fixed, I don’t know what else to do! And thanks again everyone!! 🙁

OMG my worst bridal dress nightmare is your reality! How awful – although I can’t see how they could claim the dress fits you when it clearly doesn’t? Surely it’s not up to them to decide whether it fits you, but you! Good luck on Thursday – may the dress fairy have worked her magic on your dress…
