aw, i’m sorry!!

is there a way to let out a mermaid dress in spots to make it feel more a-line?

This sounds stressful!! I have similar nightmares about how my dress could turn out (it’s not in yet).  It sounds like we are built similarly, too… I have a really small waist so I know you feel about it making your hips look big (even if they aren’t actually a big size, proportionately it makes you feel like that are).  BUT I also know that we are our own worst critics, so I’m sure you look STUNNING to everyone else! =)  There are women out there that would kill for an hourglass figure… you just gotta rock it!!  Hope this helps!
