So I went in for my first dress fitting last Saturday. I noticed a problem when I first picked up my dress but I’d hoped it could be solved at the fitting. When I tried on the samples I KNEW this was my dress. It fit well and even though I could tell it emphasized my hips a bit, it fit overall so well and was so beautiful that I decided to go ahead with it. When the actual dress came in, I tried it on and realized…the silhouette was different on the real thing! The clips the attendants had used on the sample made the dress more A-line. But here I was with a mermaid cut and GIGANTIC hips. Now I have a small waist. I have a 24” waist and much larger hips. The cut emphasizes my disparate proportions. The salesladies and alterations people assured me that this dress was “made for me” but I’m just not satisfied. Something’s wrong. I went in a few times to try on the sample and every time I did random shoppers would tell me how good I looked in the dress. At my fitting, shoppers ran over to see me all done up (they saw me come in with my dress and veil and shoes), took one look at me and walked away. This also happened when I first picked up the dress. It doesn’t look or feel like my dress anymore.
My mother doesn’t see anything wrong with the pic. But one of my bridesmaids looked at it and excalimed, “That doesn’t even look like the same dress!.” And worse yet, I don’t think it’s a weight loss issue. I’m trying to lose some weight so maybe the meat on my sides will decrease. But I can’t change the position of my hip bones! Do you ladies have any suggestions as to anything that could literally make my hips look slimmer. I’m 37 days out so there’s no time (or money) to purchase a new dress.
Sorry this was so long and thanks in advance.
