Tomorrow I’m going with my mother and grandmother for dress fitting in my hometown while I’m visiting. I stopped wearing bra’s awhile ago for various reasons. My mother, however, is pretty insistant that I wear a bra on my wedding day and is planning on getting me fitted for one tomorrow. I’m not sure what to do. I’m afraid that the employes at the dress shop (not to mention my family) is going to make this an entirelly awkward experience and for me into something that I’m not comfortable with (I’m plus size and already pretty awkward to begin with 😛 ). Does anyone have any advice? Or past experience? 🙂
Just to mention, I’m not looking for feedback on whethe I should or should not wear a bra on my wedding day because of reasons a, b, and c. I’m set that I do not wear a bra, I know what I look like braless and that’s how I’m meant to look, why should that change on my wedding day? 🙂 But how to maybe stand my ground or ways to compromise? Thank you in advance!

You should be comfortable on your wedding day! Stand your ground and wear what you want to wear under the gown. By the way, I’m having a fitting tomorrow too. It’s so exciting!

I am not wearing a bra with my wedding dress.. because there is no need. I would just explain to your mom that you are comfotable without the bra and you like the way the dress feels without it and you appreciate her wanting to buy you one, but its something your not going to wear.

Underwear is a very personal thing. Just as you don’t wear bras, I totally despise pantyhose. However, when I dress for an occasion, I go to a really good shop and ask for samples. Usually something with cotton briefs fit well, help me breathe and I can stand it. So, I guess my advice would be is pick your dress and determine how the “girls” look. You don’t want them bouncy, bouncy down the aisle because that will reflect in your video/photos and you don’t want to look saggy, but perky. There are ingenious bra fitters nowadays, and though some are pricey they will find a bra that works well for you. The genie bra is fantastic, though you need to wear a full cut dress (not a strapless or low cut gown). check out
I do prefer strapless and backless bras which almost feel as you have on nothing and the girls look just right! Available at Macy’s Check out:

Actually, I don’t mind. That’s how my breasts looks – like breasts. I see no reason that they should look artificially perky when they don’t normally lay like that. And if they bounce and sway, well, that just what they do.

get cups sewn into your dress if that will make you feel more comfortable!
