It’s still a beautiful dress but yes, it does look very different! It’s almost like it was a mini basque waist and they straightened it out. I would be pissed.

This also instills fear in my heart because my hemline needs to be raised and I think it will have to be done through the waist. One can only hope your situation is going to be handled and they will smooth it out.

Keep us informed!

There are definite puckers at the waistline now of the dress.  So dresses have that style, but I can tell from the first picture that it was originally flat.  Definitely don’t give up until the dress is exactly how you want it!  Take reinforcements with you!

I think you look great! I do see that the waist looks very different, and although you may the only one to know it was meant to be something else, I know YOU are the one it’s important to. I can not see the pleating issue in the picture but if it’s an issue for you then by all means make them fix it.

I hope everything turns out well for you!

i am so sorry this happened to you!  i would show them the pictures – after alterations, the dress doesn’t give you the same shape

Ouf- I see what you mean about the weird pleating.  They need to fix that mistake. I really hope it works out!

I am so glad I decided to call early this week and ask about length!  They ordered 61″ which is wayyy too long but it was early enough to cancel the order and they are going to measure me next Saturday and reorder.

Oh, I definitely see the difference between your two dresses. I agree–be firm and forceful with the salon/seamstress, and do not back down until the dress looks perfect to you. This is your wedding dress, for goodness’ sake. It sound be perfect!

You are 100% right, and I’m sorry, but in the first picture, you look like a million bucks…in the second, you look rediculous…it looks like a completely different dress, and I would demand that they re-order a new one…(and next time, take the pics with your hands away from the front of the dress, like in the first picture….its a fabulous choice as long as they can fix their mistake…I’m sure this sort of thing happens all the time, but they need to own up to ordering the wrong length, and they need to re-order it!!! STAT!!!

I think your alterations lady just doesnt know what she is doing. The dress still looks good on you but she has definitely changed the waist line because she didnt know how to raise with without the puckers.  The right thing to do was after detaching the waist she should have tapered the side seams, taking it in more towards the waist line to get rid of the extra fabric before reattaching it. So sorry this is happening and you should definitely insist that they fix it

@aimeefolds: The thing is they don’t do alterations in house so I doubt that’s it but I realized they didn’t even put my height on my order form and researching my dress afterwards(not what I had gone in for so I knew nothing about it) I found it could be ordered in three lengths.  So I called and asked and lo and behold they ordered it in the longest length- I really think it was just a mistake and am glad they were willing to cancel the order for me.

edit: or at least I don’t think they do because my consultant gave me a recommendation for someone that was down the street.
