CookieLady:  let me get this straight, you are officiating the ceremony (so basically being the minister for the day) and SHE’S choosing what you have to wear?!? Seems a little bridezilla to me. Not only that but obviously you are not comfortable wearing that sort of thing (and I don’t blame you, I would be too). She shouldnt get to choose what you wear, especially if you are the one paying for it. Just my two cents…

CookieLady:  i really love the second dress you posted but the bateau neckline may make you look a little top-heavy :-/  A V neckline may be a little more minimizing of the “ladies”!  I agree with allyson.m88 too, it seems quite unusual that the bride would dictate what the celebrant wears, I would imagine that its quite nerve-wracking having such a big part to play in someones wedding day and I would imagine that wearing something youre not comfortable in would compound that.  Maybe you could put it to her that way?  Eg  I want all of my attention to be on doing a good job for you two, if Im distracted by feeling self-conscious I worry that I wont make things as perfect as Id like to.

CookieLady:

Kinda weird she is trying to choose your outfit but kudos for you for trying to be accomodating to the bride 😀

So I searched through alot of prom evening/gown brands and everything I was finding was over your budget, most of these were starting around $200-$250

So it occured to me since it’s just for one day you might consider ‘Rent the Runway’ which is an awesome site I know many bees have used and loved, I myself want to use for an engagement shoot. Basically you rent couture designer dresses for a day and return them via online. Also they offer plus size which is size 14 and up so that’s pretty cool as well.

You are doing your cousin a huge favor by marrying them. She doesn’t get to choose what you get to wear. I say you should wear something you will feel comfortable in.

The bateau dress is lovely. I also second rent the runway.

Honestly the slit isn’t a huge issue for the chiffon dressed unless it’s windy or you’re planning on doing a lot of calibrated quick turns.

As a professional belly dancer I have to go out of my way to hey my skirts to show leg for my shows.  And if I don’t even with two full slits to the waist bands the only time you see leg is when I’m turning.

I would be way more concerned with making sure the bodice fits well and the amount of boobage is appropriate/acceptable.  I’d take her with me (annoying I know)  and have her there when you try these on. It’ll be real obvious real quick to someone that controlling that she made a bad choice.

Also   good effing luck lol. Seriously.  She sounds..  Ahem.  Special.

CookieLady:  I love the second dress that you posted. I found a ton of navy dresses on David’s bridal So here goes. Good thing you warned about this being pic heavy. I out in some of the lower cut haters because I do think a seamstress could raise the top and use the extra fabric from the straps as the hanging shoulder detail in bridezillas photo
