Hi Bees, I am in desperate need of help/opinions! I am pretty behind in getting a dress for my May 23rd wedding and could use some help deciding which direction to go with my dress. I am awful at decisions and I can’t seem to decide what type of dress I want despite trying on at least 60. I am getting married in a Catholic church (with no modesty rules) and then having an indoor reception with an outdoor vibe (string lights and hopefully lots of greenery). I am thinking emerald green for a main color and then doing either pink floral or gold accent, depending on the dress. I think I like beading, and I want to be able to wear my hair off of my neck without my shoulders being too noticeable. If you have any suggestions of styles or dresses I might like I’d love to hear them! I need to find a dress by Wednesday of this coming week, but can travel to look for dresses this Sunday/Monday.
Dress 1: I love the flowy-ness and detailed beading of this dress, but the straps are so bare and it is about double what I was hoping to spend (but still affordable).
Dress 2: I love the lines in the design, the shoulder straps, and the back, but I don’t love the front view of the fit and flare and I worry I will regret not going more traditional. It is right in my price range and I wouldn’t have to buy a sample.
Dress 3: A more traditional style, I like the detailing in the skirt and train. I am not sure this dress is available anymore (if you know the brand/name I’d love to know!), but I could find a style similar to it.
I so appreciate any help I can get! Thank you!

The skirt on the first one is lovely but the third one looks best on your body and the details are wonderful.

1. Pass, if it’s double than whst you wanted to spend
2. Pass, the back has a very weird design imo. Also you doubt if it’s traditional enough.
3. The best so far, but you said it’s not available. The similar style not always turn out the same. I experienced it with me wedding dress.
I vote keep looking for something available, in your price range.

I like the third dress on you the most and it seems like it’s your favourite and will probably go well with your wedding style. Having said that, you have a lovely figure so any silhouette will look great on you.
I do however think that every dress you’ve posted has a yellowey cream lining and I don’t think that does anything for your lovely colouring. I’d honestly hone in on a silhouette you like and maybe try dresses with a white on white colour scheme. I think that might help you fall in love with a dress because it will bring sparkle to your colouring and features.

Thank you! I am suprised that I like this one because I didn’t even think it was a contender when I tried it on!
Thank you so much! I hadn’t noticed that about the coloring, that’s a very good point. I think true white looks awful on me so I’ve been avoiding it, but it probably does look better than yellow ivory colors!
betyl : Thank you! I’m afraid you are right and I’ll have to keep trying dresses on

I think the fuller skirt makes more of an impact, especially for a catholic wedding. Here are some other suggestive cuts:
1) Full skirt, off shoulder for a romantic look that is elegant and timeless:
2) Full skirt without the ballgown commitment. An A-line dropped waist would be very flattering

I love the third dress on you!

I think you haven’t found the one yet! But I believe #1 looks best on you! It’s super flattering and seems to fit what you’ve described as your theme; feels ethereal to me! I love it on you! Going against what most of the others have posted to say that I think the third looks a bit dated and matronly.

I definitely think number 1 and number 3 look good on you. I think number 1 is extremely flattering! I know we all have an idea of a budget for our weddings but i say if you love number 1 get it and you can go cheaper on something else to make up for spending more than you wanted to on the dress

You look lovely in all three.
For a Catholic Church wedding, I’d say the third option is a strong one.
We have the same date!

I really liked dress 1 but when I saw dress 3 I was like wow! It suits you perfectly and it is much more ‘wedding’-y than the first one. Has anyone ever told you you look a lot like Jennifer Love Hewitt? Lol

Thank you so much everyone for your input! I decided that I didn’t have time to keep searching for the perfect dress with my limited time window/grad school demands, so I just picked a dress from the next store I went to without taking time to analyze and compare pictures! It doesn’t quite have the etheral/boho feeling I love in the first dress, but it does feel a little fancier and more ‘weddingy’. It is much more flattering in person, I’m not looking at pics of it too much because they really don’t do it justice. The sample was in great condition in my size so I didn’t have to worry about ordering/shipping in time. It is allure 5211.

I agree with you about the full skirt! However, I ultimately decided to go more on how I felt in the dress than aesthetics, and the idea of a full A-line just seemed a little too traditional to me.
Thank you!! I love the detailing in the skirt, but the skirt gets its fullness from some odd semi rigid fabric. It would be like walking around in a skirt made of those thin plastic cutting boards!
I love the ethereal feel of the 1st dress too!! I wear this style of dress for every other event though, so I decided to branch out. I agree that the 3rd dress is a little more matronly than fits my tastes, even though it is the most flattering I decided to pass on the A-line silhouette all together.
I did end up going over my budget, but not by quite as much. I would have been more willing to splurge on the first dress if I could have ordered it, but I would have had to buy the store’s sample dress which was not in the best shape.
Date twins! I hope you have more planning done than me, I can’t believe we are at less than 3 months until the wedding!
I agree, the first dress was ultimately not enough umph to feel like a wedding dress for me. And no one has ever told me that, you are so sweet!
