Have your seamstress add some tulle to the top of the petticoat, closer to your mid-thigh, to reduce the mermaid effect.

Hmm, honestly I have a hard time telling because it seems like in these photos the skirt is tucked under a bit-like it isn’t at it’s full potential.  Do heels help this effect?  I think that adding a bit more tull to the petticoat would work.  I am also glad that you brought this up because I bought a mermaid petticoat but I haven’t tried it will my dress yet.

@kitkat863: I KNOW EXACTLY HOW YOU FEEL! id go back in and try the sample on with a few different petticoats that the store has – or try pinning it at different mermaid/trumpet/flare lengths.

i tried that with my a-line mori lee gown and if i could change it into a mermaid/trumpet.. even a fit&flare! itd be PERFECT. but i just dont feel beautiful in that wide shape. maybe being 5’2 has something to do with it? anyway, the seamstresses at the salon said they could take out some tulle from underneath but it wouldnt change the shape of the dress.

see what some of the ladies tell you! good luck dear, my heart pulls for you – because this feeling is BLAH! lol

I am having the same issue! I am so glad I am not alone! What did you end up doing? Did you keep your dress or get another one?

@chloe030913:  I think I am going to get a fit and flare petticoat bc i hate how the dress doesn’t have shape. It is beautiful but just needs to be spiced up a bit!

I’m going with a hoop for my fit and flare :), it felt much better and looked better than a crinoline. Hoops are so much easier to walk in too haha 😛
