@jjmomma: I asked for the neckline to be scalloped. Although it seems a bit clumsy in the photo.
@abirdword: I like the 3rd one too but I’m worried about the big gaps. I know that seems an odd thing to be picky about but I really want a dress with a really dense pattern like the original.

@Mrs Hoot: Hmmm, I actually like the 2nd one. I think you are right about the gaps in the 3rd one, although it is pretty, it might not look as nice on a dress. The 2nd still has swirls and is a nice pattern.
Maybe ask to do the scalloping a little less deep?

@Becky33: I was leaning towards the second. To quote my aunt the first looks like ‘a curtain’. Think your right about the scalloping. If it was a bit shallower it would look better. Going to ask for the lace on the dress to be a bit more gathered.
I asked the company making it if they can send me a wider photo of the second lace. And if they have a photo of it used in a dress so I can get an idea of how it will look.

@Mrs Hoot: To be honest, I was trying to find something wrong and that only stood out as a difference. I was expecting to see a real mess of a dress but it doesn’t look that bad to me. I assumed that a major change like that, without your knowledge, would upset you… but since you asked for it, screw what I said! If I’d seen it your way first, I wouldn’t have batted an eyelash.
Are they able to show you the lace they used in a close-up as well, for comparison?

I’ve asked for a few more samples of lace from other dresses on their website.
Also my aunt has found a few dresses at a shop near me. So we are going to have a look tonight. Fingers crossed!

I think the second lace is beautiful!

The 2nd one will be much closer to the example, but I like #3… If you want to play safe, I’d suggest you pick #3.

I like the third tight lace.

@Mrs Hoot: Let us know how shopping goes. If I picked a lace from those, I’d go w/ #3… it looks the most expensive. But I’d want to see any of them in a full length shot as well, to get an idea of how it looks overall. FWIW, I still think the one they already made looks good… 🙂

I’m leaning towards #2 as it would be most similar to the sample picture, but as others have said – the third lace could be pretty if you want to chance it!

I think the sheerness of the one they made is even prettier than the one you wanted replicated, but if you hate it, I guess I’d probably pick #3 of the new samples.

what jerks! the detail on a lace dress is EXTREMELY important. thats the whole point of a lace dress! not even close to being similar at all. the lace on the model is thicker texture, stands out better. yours they effed up on is so thin, flimsy almost. no structure.
Out of the 3 swatches of lace, I really like the second one. I think it is the closest replica of the model lace. Good luck, and dont settle!

Well I went shopping last night and after trying on about 15 dresses I’ve decided to pick a lace from here.
I’m not a shopper at all. In fact unless we are in a book shop I HATE shopping!
I’m going to talk to the company today and see if there are any other laces to pick from.
At the moment I think it’s between the second and third lace. I like the pattern on the third lace more but I’m not sure about the gaps. The second lace is closest to the original and still really nice.
I’ll put up a poll once I talk to the company to make a final decision. Your opinions have been greatly appreciated!
