@dayl20:  Thanks!

@Mrs Hoot:  I understand, I have a cousin that’s similar and always thinks I’m nuts when she sees the heels I wear… but hey, you never know, you might be a heel girl underneath it all. 🙂 I think you should at least try to find a 2.5 – 3 inch heel, that are similar to the ones we’ve posted for you. You’re wedding is still far, you would have time to practice at home in them. Also, you can always take them off after the ceremony and some pictures. I’d just hate for the shoes to overpower you dress and theme that you are probably trying really hard to carry out. Those shoes… they just don’t go. I would keep them as a LAST resort if you absolutely positively could not find more vintage themed ones that you are comfortable in after practice.

It’s where you boil up some tea and throw your dress in it! (Or whatever you’re wanting to dye) I know, it sounds terrifying, lol. It gives it a sort of antiqued look to it I guess. When I made my veil, I tea dyed the trim because I didn’t like that it was super bright white.

I do not want to be negative, so if I come off that way tell me to butt out.

This lace is driving me crazy.  There is a certain sheen/thin-ness that is visible in photos making your lovely dress look cheap.  (please don’t shoot me!) I so desperately want to urge you to send this back and either choose another lace or send them a more appropriate lace.

I’m so sorry, but I just had to say it.

As for the shoes, I agree with PP- if you’re keeping them black you need something less chunky and more feminine.  And the sash either needs to be tied with bow/tie in front (ala Vera Wang) or the original champagne or both.

@Mrs Hoot:  Google Vera Wang black sash.  She des a pony hair sash but i think a wide black velvet would be great!!! Her sash is perfect on many styles of dresses and I think it might make it feel like a complete accessory rather than two hanging ends.  Then the right black shoes are no big deal.

Let us know how shopping goes!!!

@Mrs Hoot:  I agree with @axeyourmakeupkit about the dress… I just did’t know how to bring that up, too. :/ I really think you should keep shopping. Technically, this is not the dress you FELL in love with, and might just be something you are instead settling on.

Look forward to hearing how your future shopping goes!

@Mrs Hoot:  I love the hairstyles you posted… any of them would work, especially the braided ones with your thick hair… but I really like the first and second.  (and now I’ve gone back to look again, and I really like the braided ones, too) (I’m no help!)

And~ I OWN THOSE SHOES!  lol  I adore looking at shoes, but they are like pieces of art to me.  I can not wear heels, no matter how I try!  How funny that you picked the same style (mine are mahogany brown).  Still, I think it’s worth a try to see how you like a pair of the “lighter” heels like the pic Diamond84:  posted.  Very pretty!  A longer line through your ankle would flatter you in photos.

As for the lace, it only looks shiny in the close-up pic with an indoor flash… a professional wouldn’t photograph that way.

Lots of stuff to think about!  🙂

I actually don’t think the dress looks bad! But I’m no lace expert, so my opinion might not count. I just wanted to suggest perhaps looking into a short petticoat to add to the fullness of the skirt. I think that would help accentuate your figure, and it would add to the 50’s vibe. It looks like the skirt on the original dress has more volume.

Also, I think that a sideswept hairstyle would look really nice, like the one you posted of Taylor Swift. And I think a lighter color sash would compliment your waist nicely.

Good luck!

@Holocene:  Yes!  Great suggestion.
