Why not have the pick ups removed? You would just need to get more of a hem. You could even keep the extra fabric for a boquet wrap, or something else.

@BeckyS0:  I had most of my pickups removed. They’re just held up there with little tacks of thread, so the seamstress got under the dress and removed all of the tacks and it changed the dress entirely, including lengthening it another two inches! But it made it the dress I wanted, so it didn’t matter. And there are no holes or anything.

However, from the experience I had of “liking my dress well enough” but not in an “omg it’s THE dress” sort of way, it’s really difficult and nervewracking to get a dress that you HOPE will be THE dress once major changes have been made. It’s hard to put aside the worry that what you’re hoping for won’t actually be possible. I bought a dress that I thought could be changed into what I wanted. It was possible, but I spent months feeling no connection to the one that I bought and weeks feeling major anxiety that it wouldn’t turn out right.

Now, I went into the dress thing without the same enthusiasm and hope that you have going for you, so I didn’t expect to find THE dress. But with how excited you are, I really think that you will find YOUR dress, one that won’t need “it’s perfect except for…” attached to it. (Don’t get me wrong, a hem and a changed neckline aren’t big deals, but I think when you try on a dress that has a list of structural changes attached to it to make it the perfect dress, I think maybe that’s not the right one.)

@BeckyS0:  Honestly not sure. I can see that the polka dots on your dress are bigger though…

I did a little digging and found a couple of terms that might be useful. “Swiss dot” as a search term yielded some more polka dots, but still most not as big as you’d want.

Also, there is a Maggie Sottero dress that was discontinued a couple years ago called Rasharna that has the bigger polka dots like you want. There are a couple of listings on sites like recycledbride and oncewed, like this one:

Why don’t you just have the pick ups removed?

Henry Roth has a dress with larger polka dots. It’s called Zoe. It was my runner up dress!
