(Closed) Dress in a very short time?

I was surprised how quickly my dress came in from David’s Bridal – I went shopping literally a year ago, the 29th, and my dress was ordered that day after trying on several.  It came in 2 weeks later.  My wedding wasn’t till May (I’m a plus size and thought dress shopping would be harder than it was), so I didn’t do the only alterations , hemming, till March at the recommendation of DB, and THAT only took about another 2 weeks.  My dress wasn’t the most elaborate, but we had a beach wedding and I wanted something light weight that would pack easily for a plane ride.

I got my gorgoeus shantung silk Romona Keveza gown at a very high end couture salon but was able to afford it because they let me buy the sample, which luckily for me, was basically brand new and had hardly been tried on.  Plus, as a bonus, I took it home the same day, which was great because I had even less time that you to find something.

Another option is the preowned route online (preownedweddingdresses.com, oncewed.com, stillwhite.com, etc.)  There are so many gorgeous designer dresses online with deep discounts.  For example, I’m selling my $4200 dress for $2200 …. and that’s AFTER I paid to have it bustled (which cost me $400) and had it professionally cleaned to a certified “prestine” condition (another $200).  And it’s from the 2016 collection so some bride gets a current couture gown for a big discount.  Have you looked at that option?

Sorry about your illness, by the way.  Sure hope you’re ok!

babayaga :  If I understood correctly, you are looking for a modest, yet somewhat grand dress. Perhaps this could be an option, from Nordstrom. By the way, Nordstrom will be opening a store in Toronto on September 16, at Toronto Eaton Centre.

Look at Basix Black Label. I especially love their long sleeve beaded dress in ivory. They sell in Saks and other stores plus have an online store. The dresses sell under $1300 and  come in color options. Hope this is helpful.

Try to see if there’s a bridal consignment shop near you, they often have a variety of beautiful dresses. Condition will vary of course, but most times they’ve only been worn once and are in mint condition.

So sorry about your illness.  I too want to mention David’s Bridal.   My dress came in very quickly.  Their alterations dept isn’t super fast but they will work with you.  I planned my wedding in 5 months, so it can be done!  All of the other bees have given excellent suggestions as well.

So sorry to hear about your illness.

I second BHLDN. My dress is from there and would definitely be considered modest. It came in within a week, and you can pay to overnight ship it. They have some lovely modest but blingy/fancy options I think would suit your needs:

You can get sleeves or a topper added if you love a dress that isn’t modest enough! Check out preownedweddingdresses and stillwhite.com for people selling their dresses near you

babayaga :  Honey anything is possible if you’re open to options! If you’re not against a 2nd hand dress, you could always go dress shopping, find what you like, then search sites such as ‘stillwhite.com’ for the dress you loved! and viola, instant dress, and enough time to alter (make sure you get a size BIGGER than your actuall size).

You will find your dream dress, don’t stress!! 🙂
