Well, obviously I AM already worrying haha, but I am trying to see if this situation is normal or not.
I ordered my dress in May 2015 for my June 3, 2016 wedding. It was due into the shop a week ago. After the due date I reached out and they said it would arrive EOD on Monday or at least by the end of the week. But now the end of the week has come and gone, and I haven’t heard from them at all. Is it normal to have a dress arrive 1+ weeks late? I’m a little surprised since I ordered it 10 months ago!
The other thing is that my consultant has left the store. I really liked/trusted her and she is a main reason I ordered my dress at this salon, so I’m also a little nervous that no one there really cares to watch out for the dress or keep me updated since they haven’t worked with me before. Anyway, am I just overreacting? Do dresses come late all the time without being lost or (my really irrational fear) never even made?

jannem: I’m not sure if it’s normal, but if it’s making you feel uneasy (I would feel the same way, FWIW), why don’t you call and ask to speak with the manager/owner of the salon?

If they said it would be in by the end of this week, I would call and ask if it’s come in, and if not, why not.

Is the store close by? If yes, I would go in (not on a weekend if possible) and ask to talk to a manager/supervisor. 10 months is a long time and I would want a proper update on what’s going on.

BMoreBecc: bourdon: Jijitattoo: thanks for your input! I am definitely planning to follow up but wasn’t sure how often/urgently I should do it since I don’t want to seem crazy… I’m out of town this weekend but I’ll definitely try to go in or get a firm update on Monday.

TEN months? Jesus. Was it custom made or something? I ordered mine in October and it came in in February and everyone was like “wow that’s a long wait”.
Of course I’ve also been told that my MOH’s dress is coming in a few days before the wedding (same dress as the other girls who all got theirs within weeks of ordering). So you have to wonder. lol.

CaitlinAwesome: that’s strange! The whole thing with ordering all these dresses seems like such a mystery. And mine is not custom, just a standard design!

jannem: that’s really weird then. You should definitely call them and see if they can make an inquiry on your behalf. Fix it before it becomes an “actual” problem.

My dress took almost 8 months to arrive. I don’t know why but that’s standard in the store I went to so it may be realistic time wise.
Obviously you need to be persistant now though. Did they give you any guidelines on when you could expect it to be in when you ordered it? If the store is nearby, I’d go in to speak to them and tell them you’d like them to contact their supplier to ask where it is if they don’t know themselves.
You have time to play around with at the moment so try not to stress too much but get it sorted before it becomes a real issue and there’s less time to rectify things.

sarahtaylor: it’s Christos!
They did say it would come in around this time originally but the date on the contract has passed.

jannem: Hmm that’s not a designer that’s known for being late with dresses. If it’s past the contract date, I would raise hell, to be honest.

sarahtaylor: good to know, thanks! I am definitely going to be more persistent about this. I thought I was being overly nervous but I really think they should be able to provide an accurate delivery date at this stage!

- Wedding: July 2016 - Long Island, NY
I ordered my Sophia Tolli dress in July 2015 for my July 2016 wedding. I was told it would be in sometime middle January, so when February rolled through and March started, I called them. They told me the estimate in their system says “March 20” which is completely different from what they told me (by about 2 months).
I’m not really worried. There is still plenty of time, for you and for me, so until it becomes an actual problem, I’ll just wait it out.

jellybellie: you’re right! There is still time! My wedding is about 10 weeks away at this point, which I know is enough…but I’m just worried that they don’t have an accurate date. For example if they said it was arriving March 20 that would make me feel better, but the original date they gave, and then a later date, have both not been met. Hoping for more news from them today, and good luck with your dress!
