I’ve been reading the boards for a while – thanks to many of you for the great inspirations and ideas!
Here’s my problem of the past few weeks: my dress has gone missing and nobody seems to know or care where it is.
I ordered my dress at a salon in Dec/12 and they promised it would arrive until March or April at the latest. I’ve been calling them weekly for the past 6 weeks and the answer is always “it has been shipped, it will arrive in the next few days” (for 6 weeks????). Of course, I already paid the full amount and I’m starting to get anxious if it will arrive on time (including the alterations that need to be done) for my July wedding. I’ve had quite a few talks with the salon’s manager and she says it’s not their fault as the dress has been shipped in March. They don’t know what’s going on and it’s not at the manufacturer’s anymore. If all things fail, I will need to look for another dress and I assume that one week prior to my wedding would be too late. In this horror scenario, I obviously would want my money back!
Also, I already failed to attend my first alterations appointment last week because of this mess.
Any ideas how I can make them speed things up or get some information on the wherabouts of my dress? Could I contact the manufacturer themselves?

@moiraine: I would take your dad (or some male figure with you) and go in again and not leave until you get an answer. Something fishy is going on and it’s making the company look bad. Even if it were only shipped in March, it wouldn’t take 3 months to arrive. Sounds like they messed up and need to fix their mistake.
Worst case, I would threaten legal action.

My salon got a tracking number from the manufacturer when the dress was shipped. Find out if they got a tracking number and then find out why they haven’t been tracking it!
I agree with PP, go IN PERSON to the salon. Take a male (he doesn’t need to talk, just be there) and do not leave until you get an answer.

@moiraine: How on earth can someone lose a wedding gown? The dress had to have been shipped with a tracking number. Have they traced it that way? Maybe you should call the designer yourself and find out if it really was a mess up on their end. And I agree with the pp. Take your dad and dont leave until you have an answer. This is so far beyond unacceptable I cant even believe it.. Good luck!

@moiraine: something is not right. i don’t think the salon is being honest with you.
if the dress has not arrived yet, the salon either a) didn’t order it on time or at all or b) the salon is in arrears with that particular designer and they will not take any more orders until their account is paid.
i personally would contact the designer myself and get to the bottom of this asap. confirm that the dress was ordered and the date it was. also, has the dress been shipped and when. is there a tracking number?
good luck and keep us updated.

I was there on Saturday with a male friend of mine (who btw thought I was too pushy while trying to get an answer – so I’m not sure anymore if I might be overreacting). They said they would tell me today. I called them and the answer was that some email arrived but they couldn’t read it without the manager, so they’ll call tomorrow.
Something’s definitely not right!
I have a copy of the order confirmation from the manufacturer. The dress was ordered in January and the estimated shipping date was 04/22/2013. So that didn’t happen.
Do you think I might be able to find a replacement on such a short notice? I’m not really a standard size (6′ and size 14) so I’m not sure what to do.

Also, no tracking number on the order confirmation…

They offered me to give me the money back anytime. At least that’s not lost. They’re not sure if Forever Yours hasn’t gone bankrupt because they are not answering their phone.
How much can a new dress, say in a size 8-10 be altered? Do you guys think that it could be made to fit a 14? Most trial dresses around here are really on the smaller side. I still want a tulle skirt, it’s more of a bodice issue.

From what I have heard, Forver Yours has indeed gone out of business. Which dress did you order?

4912 – the blush one inspired by the sherbet Lazaro
That’s horrible, I found the same after searching for a while.
So I guess I need to find a new one.

@moiraine: If I were you, I would look on preowned sites for girls with similar measurements. I think that is your best bet. So sorry this happened to you

Update: FI called the US headquarters. Nobody is going out of business. UK is overbooked with orders. And apparently the store forgot to pay for shipping. Sorry for all the panicking. It’s still possible that the dress won’t be here in time. At least we know what’s up.

@moiraine: Can they pay to overnight ship it to you maybe?
Interesting. I read on a few bridal shops websites that they had gone out of business. I’m glad that’s not the case!

@moiraine: I would insist the bridal shop pay for overnight shipping & give you a discount on your alterations (assuming your using them) since it was all their issues and they were so unhelpful trying to sort it out for you.
