@beachrunner26:  Is it hot? Uncomfortable? Cumbersome?

If it’s none of the above, then nothing should stop you from wearing this lovely dress. You’re going to have plenty of people tell you that chiffon is the only thing to wear for a destination wedding (for good reason), but your dress is gorgeous and flatters you immensely. If it’s not too heavy or uncomfortable…go for it!

I love that dress, if it were me, I’d rock the heck out of that beauty on the beach! πŸ˜‰

Especially for that price, you have a gorgeous dress for next to mothing price wise, my vote is keep it πŸ™‚

I also want to add, Im pretty certain if you decide not to keep it there will be people wanting it, seriously if I didn’t have mine and wasn’t 6 weeks out I’d make a serious offer right now LOL

@beachrunner26:  Oh geez. Wear what you love. I think it would work great.

Also if you’re seriously thinking you need a shrink, just keep telling yourself it’s a DRESS you will be wearing for a few hours. How’s that for perspective?? Lol.

If you switch to a hoop skirt it should be cooler. And as it was such a bargain you could always consider a lighter reception dress

I’m in the same way. I feel than my dress is too much to my Destination Wedding. But i don´t care, i´m love in it….So im thinking on buy another dress (short and fresh) for the reception (after dance the firts songs)

@beachrunner26:  You can also purchase sweat-wicking undergarments to keep you cooler (in addition to the PP who wisely suggested a hoop). That way, the feathers aren’t right next to your skin.

And…you could put one of your BMs in charge of “cooling duty,” and she can keep you cool before the ceremony with a battery-operated fan,* iced drinks, and a shady spot to wait (or you can wait inside). πŸ™‚

*Aruba has lovely weather in May, and though it’s humid, the tradewinds keep you pretty cool. The fan is just in case there’s no breeze on your wedding day (unlikely). Essentially, the winds will help keep you out of “Texas in summer” levels of uncomfortable. I’d highly recommend wearing your hair up or just rocking some breezy beach waves because the wind and humidity will kill any intricate hairstyle you have planned.

I’m not 100% sure I understand you situation or how many dressed you now own.  But I went to look at yor past posts and the Maggie Sottero is my fave.  It is so unique and looks wonderful on you.

I’ve been to Aruba that time of year. It is brutally humid and also pretty damn hot. I think you’re right to be wary of wearing that dress, especially if you’ll be out in the sun for any length of time. If it were me I would sell it and get something more weather-appropriate.
