I would definitely try it on with some two inch shoes and see if that works. Have you practiced your dance with the current shoes and length?

@imanw:  then yeah, definitely try different shoes, even if they are only for the reception.

Yep, I’d wear higher heels, at least for the dance.  Learn to dance in them first, though! And then you can switch back to the lower ones for the rest of the reception to be more comfortable.

@imanw:  If you aren’t comfortable wearing higher heels, you can always opt for wedges instead (although I personally find wedges a bit more cumbersome to dance in). 

 

Another option is to buy cute dancing heels (as in those worn by ballroom dancers). They’re sturdier and more flexible than mainstream evening heels, but they still look cute and they’re much more comfortable! There are a variety of styles, too:

@imanw:  Taller heels would be a good option, as long as you opt for comfortable and secure ones that won’t trip you up when you’re dancing. Another option would be to add a wrist loop to the train of your dress, so you can have it off the ground while you’re dancing.
