So I found a dress that I’m in love with. I tried on one that was made in silk shantung and it’s just beautiful. Unfortunately, that beautiful fabric comes with a large price tag. I found out that the dress can be made in taffeta for about $1,000 less. That’s a huge price difference. I’m so torn. Granted, I need to try it on in taffeta to make that final decision but I’m currently having a hard time justifying spending the extra money. Does anyone have the Allure 8771 in taffeta or silk that can give me their perspective on the different fabrics?

Thats my dress!!! I bought the taffeta one for $673. The taffeta is not like typical cheap taffeta, its much thicker and isnt nearly as noisy. The fabric does not feel cheap, it has a nice sheen but not super shiny like crappy bridesmaid taffeta. Here’s a bad pic of me trying it on, lol.

Thanks so much for the info!!! That’s what I wanted to hear. Hopefully I can find a place that has it to try on.

This is really hard to say…. can you expand your budget? If yes, then get the one with the material you like the most. If no, then you don’t really have a choice.
From what you said, it seems you have the money, but you are not sure if it is worth $1000 extra, right? This is really a personal decision. It depends on how much you hate the cheaper material and how much you love the better one.
But anyway, try both materials on first, and maybe you will know your answer 🙂

I’m not sure the fabric part is much of a big deal unless its uncomfortable.
You can tell the difference of fabric in the pictures, but that’s probably because one is a model pic (airbrushed, etc, higher def camera) while the other one is a regular photo. Regardless, the dress is pretty in both.
But, if the Taffeta is uncomfortable for you, then I suggest spending the extra for the other fabric since you love the dress so much. In the meantime, trying it on will be the next step. Keep us updated!
