My sister had the same problem.  She got hers off the rack and it was a 6.  They took hers in to a size 2 and it looked fantastic!  It sounds like you trust your seamstress, so it should all work out just fine!! 🙂

Although some dress stores push customers to order larger sizes to make more $, I think most do it because it is a 100 times easier to take a dress in than to let it out.

I wouldn’t worry 🙂 But schedule extra fittings if you feel at all uncomfortable or are nervous.

It happened to me. I’m similar to your build, 5’3″, 110 lbs, 34D. The store ordered off the Lazaro size chart and supposedly I was a size 6. When the dress came it was literally falling off of me. About 2 sizes big everywhere. It had very heavy beading and embroidery and was a nightmare to alter. I was so panicked it wasn’t going to work out I ended up buying two more wedding dresses in my frenzied state. It kinda was ok in the end and I wore it for the ceremony, but I still think it would’ve looked better if they ordered a size 2 from the start. Oh and you’re getting a great deal if it’s only 100-200. I spent about $500.

My corset ballgown had to be taken in 4-6 inches from below my ribs through my hips. I had to order a size 8 because of my ribcage which obviously can’t get smaller but everything else was a size 4/6 depending on where they measured.  Don’t worry about it.  You’re seamstress will be able to work it out.  You can’t even tell my dress has had alterations!

@alphajuliet: what?! I had no idea that dress would be that complicated, I mean I thought about how odd it would be to have to take in but I figured a seamstress would be able to figure it out. The dress looks awesome on you though I doubt anyone will notice.
