So I just tried on a dress by watters I fell in love with online. What do you ladies think? The sample was a bit big so it’s bunched in spots that it normally won’t be when it’s in my size.

I think I like it in the front too! My colors are brighter yellow and green so I think I might make a yellow ribbon and see how that looks with it but am thinking if I’ll order it with white in case I dont like the idea of color. It’s such a simple dress but I think it looks so elegant. Here is a dress inspiration that I love with the bow

I think it’s beautiful, but I wish they’d clipped you in a little tighter; it’s tough to envision how it would look on you in the correct size. The website photo is stunning though, I can see why you fell in love with it.
I like the ribbon both ways for different reasons, I think it depends on what look you’re going for. Darling Husband just leaned over and said he liked it better tied in front, so there’s a guy’s opinion if you want it, lol.
Are you looking for ivory or white? I find the lace around the bustline doesn’t stand out quite as much in the ivory (which is what I’m assuming the sample is).

It is beautiful, and I’m sure it would be even better once it fits you below the bust. I love the lace, especially around the neckline.

I normally vote for ribbons in the back, but on you, the ribbon in the front look is perfect!

Yes the sample is in ivory but I couldn’t really tell. I live out of state so my mom and grandma couldn’t come both of which opinions I wanted. My grandma questioned “Oh you’re getting ivory?” So I was like oh gosh now that makes me second guess if I should get what is pictured in the sample or order it in white.
Thanks for having your husband give his opinion lol! I’m leaning toward tied in front I think it adds a little more to it! How do you think it’d look with a yellow ribbon? I figured it’d either have my grandma make one or just use a piece of ribbon but I guess I don’t have to decide about it until it actually comes in and i can try both choices with it.

@winnie22: If you’re concerned about ivory vs. white, try on the dress in both! They wouldn’t even let me order my dress in white until I retried it on in both ivory and white just to be sure I really wanted white. And just know: most women do get ivory these days. It’s looks better on most, whereas white tends to wash out a lot of women. There are, of course, exceptions like me–ivory washes me out, whereas white makes me pop!

@parasol I would but they only have ivory in the store as a sample I just looked on the website it says the picture was pictured in the ivory lace so I think I might just stick with that… I’m gonna mail a cd disk with these pictures to my grandma. I think once she sees it in the pictures she’ll see that it’s a whiter ivory.

@winnie22: That’s a good plan! And yes, your dress definitely looks very white and still very bridal, which I’m sure is what you and your grandma are looking for.
If you’re still worried, just try on another dress to see what the white looks like on your skin tone. That’s actually what I did, and I was able to rule out the ivory and the style!

@parasol: figured out i had to hit the reply lol I just started posting. Good idea! The bridal shop is like an hour away but I think it’d be worth the drive Maybe I’ll wait to see my grandmas opinion after she sees the pictures. She has dial up so it takes too long to load pictures in emails and my mom and technology doesn’t mix so she wouldnt know how to save them on a jump drive to take over to her house.

Keep in mind the inspiration picture is taken in very bright studio lighting, so you’ll want to take your venue lighting into consideration when deciding between white and ivory.
I actually think white would look amazing against your skin tone and might suit you bit better than ivory, and a yellow ribbon would pop more against it as well. BUT I also know I had a huge opinion about ivory vs. white for my own dress, so whatever makes you feel beautiful and like a bride, go with it 🙂
