I, personally, would never purchase a dress I hadn’t tried on first. You only get to do this once so its worth the time and money finding the “right” dress for you. That’s my philosophy on that 🙂 Welcome to the bee and congratulations!

I just couldn’t purchase a dress that I couldn’t try on first.  The shape that I thought would be perfect for ended up being really bad.  Is there an option to go to a bridal salon that has similar shapes so you know about what this style/shape would look on you?

It’s very pretty, but I have to agree. Have you gone and tried on any dresses? I had a dress in mind when I first went, thinking that because I was short I would need sheath. I ended up hating that dress, and found that I loved a lines much more on me. If you want to order this dress, at least go find some dresses you can try on that are similar. I also can’t really picture sleeves with this dress, what would they be made of? Satin or lace? Either way you’ll have to find some fabric to match the dress or she’ll have to take it from somewhere on the dress which is hard. At least if you order a dress they can order you a little extra fabric to make sleeves. Casablanca has several lower priced styles, and they make it specific to your measurements and can add sleeves to any of their dresses. After my nightmare dress, my motto is that you shouldn’t have to buy a dress you have to change from the get go. There are so many dresses out there that there has to be one that you like in it’s entirety!

I agree those tiny straps are terrible!  Your idea for cap sleeves sounds really elegant and I am loving the waist …but I am not sure about the trim at the top (bust area).  It doesn’t seem to go with the rest of the dress.

Ultimately the decision has to be yours, but I still wouldn’t without trying it on first :/

Hi There!

I bought my dress from Etsy without trying it on first.  It’s a 1950’s vintage dress and I love it!  It fit perfectly, the price was right and I immediately took it to have alterations (in fact, that’s where it is right now!).  There is always a risk when buying online without trying the item on first but if everything seems legit and you really like your dress then I would say to move forward and be happy.

I think the dress is pretty.  It’s not really my style but I’m not wearing it.  If you love it then buy it and enjoy!  Congrats – I hope it all works out.
