(Closed) Dress or venue first?

When planning my wedding, the first thing we did was secure our venue.

Then came my dress.  I always knew I wanted a lace sheath dress with a cathedral train and I would’ve got that…even before the venue.

In the end, everything came together nicely…the venue, dress, theme…

I booked my venue and then bought my dress. But even if I went the other way it wouldn’t have mattered because I love my dress and love my venue – even if they didn’t match I wouldn’t have cared!!!

I would def book your venue first, becuase they can book up so far in advance. My my dress had nothing to do with my venue.

bluesun100 :  While I’m of the camp you can wear whatever dress you like regardless of the venue, I personally didn’t do anything wedding related until my venue had been booked.

We booked the venue first, because we had to in order to secure our date.  The only situations where your venue might affect your dress in my opinion would be if you were doing a beach wedding, or if you wanted a dress with a HUGE train (because then you would need a venue with a bigger aisle).

We booked our venue first and I kind of had it in mind when dress shopping.

The first thing we did with wedding planning was book the venue. I didn’t buy my dress until months afterward.

Definitely book the venue fist.  This will dictate not only where but WHEN your wedding will be held and this will help you determine the appropriate dress for the occasion.

I ended up getting my dress first, but I know what the venue will be, and that will be the next thing checked off the list. I didn’t plan on buying my dress yet but when I saw it and tried it on I knew it was the one and didn’t want to wait and it be gone. My dress style would be the same regardless of where we chose to get married because it’s what I always wanted.

Venue first. But I’m not even sure my dresson matches my venue. I picked what I liked.

I picked my dress based on my Venue and Formality of my wedding.   I also  took into account the area where we would take pictures and how the dress would photograph.  And most importantly, something my Fiance would like to see me in!
