Hello. I’m new here, but i have been lurking the forums ever since i got engaged. I was hoping to get some advice on dresses.
Me and my Fiance decided to go ahead and do a wedding fairly quickly ( <4months after the engagement.) I have currently been frantically dress shopping trying to find the perfect dress. Unfortunately all dresses take ~6 months to make (and I only kinda wanna use Davids Bridal as a last resort, because I would like a designer dress).
it has come down to me buying a sample dress (or one that is in the warehouse floor), but not every place has all the sizes or styles in stock. (i dont really wanna buy a second hand dress either, but sample is fine)
I found this dress that I really love. Maggie Sottero: Devine. Only problem is that I am a size 14 apparently and the warehouse and store have a size 12. The store said they could take out the side seams to give me another inch and a half and I am worried it wont be enough and I will have to keep looking for another dress.
I was hoping to get the forum’s opinions on whether I should do it, or keep looking and what other dress styles people might suggest or something.

Can you call other local shops and see if they have it? My shop had a lot of samples in a size 14, so I think 12 or 14 are quite popular. OR, you can take a look on the classified boards here and theres a good chance someone is selling a brand new one that decided to go with another. Good luck!

@purple_sofia: I’d really rather purchase from a store because of how much the dress is. I called every store in my area and every store in my parents area (diff state) and nobody has it in size 14 🙁

@Mrs.ShadowStar: You may try weddingshoppeinc.com, I bought one of my dresses from them but I was able to send someone to their brick and mortar store to pick it up. I also bought a sample and they were absolutely wonderful about it, sent me a TON of picture and were willing to ship it to me reasonably which I would have done had my mom not lived in the area. I did pick up the phone and talked to a sales lady rather than trying to email them, I wish I could remember her name, she was fabulous.

You should definitely check out weddingshoppeinc.com. They have a link at the top of the page for “Quick Delivery Dresses” and some list a 2-3 week arrival time.
