Hi everyone, first time actually posting after a long time reading. I am getting married September 21, 2013, in an outdoor wedding. We won’t be having the ceremony or reception on the beach, but the venue is directly on the beach, and we will probably have some pictures and whatnot there. That being said…
I tried on a bunch of dresses, and cannot decide between two. I loved dress #1 more in the store when trying them on, but when I look at the pictures of the dresses on me, I love #2 way more!
This is dress #1. It’s a chiffon halter (which I usually find uncomfortable, but flattering)
This is dress #2. It’s taffeta, and my Maid/Matron of Honor pointed out that it may get wrinkled easily, which might annoy me. But I love the one shoulder and the option for a colored or sparkly sash.
They are both David’s Bridal dresses, around the same price. I am also starting Weight Watchers, hoping to lose at least 50 pounds by the wedding. So I’m not sure if I should even get a dress now, or wait and see how much I lose, so I can get a more accurate size.

I like number 1 better but I honestly think you have plenty of time and should keep looking until you find that perfect dress. I personally wouldn’t commit to either of these just yet.

You have plenty of time. Neither of these dresses have the “wow” factor that your body deserves. Keep looking.

I think the one shoulder looks well on you, but the fabric is horrid. I would wait.

I agree you still have some time. And from my understanding they can get the dresses pretty quickly at David’s Bridal.

The second one looks so much better! I don’t think halter tops are flattering, though.

Please wait. I was in the same position as you. I tried on a ton of dresses and liked the way some of them looked, but wasn’t 100% sure about any of them. Then I found one I thought was really pretty and bought it, even though I didn’t love myself in it. Had major dress regret and am buying new dress I love this week. I had also been working out and in those couple of months my body changed enough for me to be willing to try on totally diffrent shapes than before. You have plenty of time. Wait for that feeling and don’t settle. You will find it.

I would wait. I think the one shoulder is more flattering but taffeta itaint the best choice for this cut or your type of wedding. Chiffon would be better. I would steer clear of halters.

I would wait as well. I’m not totally feeling either dress on you, to be honest! I think you should keep looking, and also agree that you should stay away from halters (they make you look on the top heavy side…)

i voted for the first one, but I agree with the rest of the girls on waiting/keep looking. I like the way it fits on you, however the straps are not as flattering. If you made it into a sweetheart it would look much better 🙂 good luck on your search 🙂

I wouldnt wait a few months, but maybe take a break. If I had to choose between the two dresses, I would say the second. You will know when it is your dress. You will feel beauiful, important and most importantly a bride.

@joyfulgirl9682: i def would not get a dress if you plan on losing weight. your beautiful just the way you are but when you lose that weight your going to feel great and want to try on other style dresses dont buy now save it for when you lose weight.

If must choose between #1 and #2,I think #1 is better. But I am side with bees above, you should wait until your weight loss.

@joyfulgirl9682: dress #2 shapes your body beautifully.

Joyful–I’m getting married near the water, like you, and am also a plus size. I even tried on that first dress–I think the rouching at the bust just adds too much volume.
I started with David’s Bridal and hated everything about the experience. I found that finding the dresses I liked the look of online, then finding a boutique that carried them and going there was what worked for me, if that helps.
I also planned to lose weight before the wedding, but so far haven’t done so….but, I went ahead and ordered the dress in my current size; I figure it can be altered if I do lose.
I’m adding a pic of my dress on me if you’d like to get a feel for other chiffon halters (I know halters are largely unliked here on the WB, but I hate strapless dresses and wanted a V-Neck).
