I spent way too long going back and forth between the two! But I ultimately decided on the fit and flare. I do love the neckline of the A-line. But dress #2 looks amazing in the video. Both are so gorgeous. Come back and update what you decide!
Ok I voted 2 but I want to change to 1 after watching the videos! I think part of the problem was that number 1 is losing its shape by being way too long and big on you whereas 2 is coping better with the clips. After seeing how they sit on the models I do prefer number 1. I found 2 to be wrinkling weirdly as the model walked and she looked more uncomfortable. Number 1 is more sparkly and bridal and looks really comfy (I am all about comfort and knew I couldn’t wear a fit and flare without being annoyed – I like being able to walk dammit!) and $900 cheaper! The fact that you feel like defending number 1 also means something! That’s how these polls should be used – you don’t have to pick the one that wins but the feelings the poll brings up in you might give you a hint as to what you actually want.
After watching the video.. I like dress #1. They are both gorgeous but # is perfect as is.. also, it’s cheaper! Spend that money on fun stuff like nice heels and accessories 🙂
Initially, I liked dress 2 better. But as nonablu pointed out, it had a lot to do with the huge fit issue. Dress 1 is so big on you it was hard to imagine what it‘d look like in your size, whereas dress 2 looks fantastic on you as is. But after watching the videos and seeing dress 1 on the model, it’s every bit as beautiful and sexy as dress 2, just in a slightly more understated way. And that back is to die for. PLUS, you’ll save almost $1k. Dress 1 wins for me!
Your figure looks awesome in the fit and flare, but in my opinion the a line is more bridal and elegant, and is so sparkly and pretty in the video (and the back is so pretty too!). Plus if it’s more comfortable, almost $1000 cheaper, and more “you” then I think that’s your answer 😀
I went back to the shop with a friend because I realized I needed to try them both on again to see how I “felt” in them. The photos made me lean toward the fit and flare while the videos made me lean toward the a-line, and I thought maybe the way I felt in each of them would help break the tie.
Well, my friend suggested I try the fit and flare on first. I did, and the woman helping us brought out a veil – and you guys! I had NO idea how much a veil could change things!
The second she put the veil on, my friend and I both gasped – it looked perfect.
After that, I put on the a-line, and while I still loved the way it moved and looked, and how comfortable it was, I realized I really wanted to put the fit and flare back on!
So after that experience, it was pretty clear that it had to be the fit and flare.
The a-line is definitely more my every-day style – a bit oversized, comfy, more casual, etc. But I realized… do I really want to spend my wedding day being my usual, normal self? Or do I want it to be a little bit extra? Do I want it to push me outside my comfort level a little bit? Do I want it to be a little special and unusual? I definitely do – I have the rest of my life to prioritize comfort!
The fit and flare made me feel beautiful and bridal.
And it also felt age-appropriate – I worried the a-line might be TOO young-looking for me. I’m nearing my mid-30’s, and I think the “older” look of the fit and flare matches better in that sense as well.
Photos with the veil!
