OMG, J’adore. Like all the characters in Midnight in Paris, I believe I was born in the wrong time.

@SpecialSundae:

I, too, love antique dresses. May I recommend this lady who makes custom designed 1860s dresses with period techniques and fabrics: http://shop.originals-by-kay.com/. She is located in the US, but I am in the UK, and I have ordered a dress from her. Seh posted very quickly and the process was very easy. It was for a fancy dress ball, and came from her pre-made collection. I only paid about 200 quid, and it is pure silk with a cotton lining. She can also make period-correct corsets and crinolines, but as it was for a fancy dress event, I used my wdding gown hoop skirt and a corset that I purchased on eBay.

In the meantime, here are some additional photos for inspiration:

How lovely! I wish I still went to balls. At the time, I was too young to appreciate dressing up and I still bought my dresses from TK Maxx. I’m old enough to appreciate nice things now… but whenever would I wear them? Frown
