- Wedding: May 2009
Ok, so I got married a few months ago in my hometown, about 3 hours from where we currently live. My mom recently came to visit and I gave her my wedding dress to take back with her so she could drop it off at the store where I bought the dress to be cleaned (since I don’t know anyone locally).
She just dropped it off today and paid for the cleaning (they mail it off to some company), which was a flat rate. Red flag #1 since I read somewhere that the price should be based on the material and how stained it is. She also said they told her the warrenty that comes with it is void if the box is opened since you could mess it up by taking it out. Red flag #2! I read somewhere that companies sometimes do this so if they mess up your gown you’ll never know about it since you’re too afraid to void the warrenty.
Does anyone have any experiences to confirm or deny my concerns or any advice? I’m going to try calling the dress shop when the open Monday morning, hoping they haven’t already shipped it out, getting more info, and possibly trying to get my dress back if I still have a bad feeling about it. Thanks for any words of wisdom you can give!
